HERE IS THE ARTICLE LISTED AS BREAKING NEWS IN THE BEACON JOURNAL...The University of Akron and its men's basketball coach, Keith Dambrot, have agreed in principle on a new seven-year contract, Athletic Director Mack Rhoades said in a written statement today.Details are being finalized. Under the new deal, Dambrot's salary will rank among the top third of Mid-American Conference coaches, according to the statement.Dambrot has compiled a 68-27 record (38-14 MAC) in three seasons.Today's contract will replace the five-year deal Dambrot signed in late December.``Keith has done an excellent job leading this basketball program,'' Rhoades said. ``He holds a special place in the hearts and minds of the people in this region, and we know this is where he wants to remain.''This season, the Zips won their first MAC East Division championship since 1998.
