I recently wrote an email to Jarvis Givens and just got a reply from him, and he assured me that he is going to honor his original committment to the Zips. He is currently enrolled in a prep school to help get him ready for college life and to get his grades up a little bit more. He seems like he is excited to join us. He also said he has been working on his speed. his official stats are 6'2 302 LBS and he said he has been running consistant 4.9-5.1 in the 40 yard dash. Will be another BIG addition to our lacking depth at DL with both him and Ryan Bain ( transfer from iowa) joining the team after the 2007 season.

I am confused. He had said he was going to be a Zip. And then on signing day he went with Florida Atlantic. But now about going to a prep school he is going to be a Zip again......

yeah he said he is going to honor his original committment to the zips. he committed to the zips, then reniged an went with FL. ATLANTIC........... but he has since enrolled in a prep school and decided to honor his original committment to us.

Did you ask him if he is academically qualified? Sounds like he is at prep school because he can't get into a 4-year institution under NCAA guidelines. If that's the case, he is/would be wide open to any school after 1 or 2 years. We don't know if JD would still want him, considering the apparent adjustment in balance of athletic/academic talent at Akron.
