http://www.gozips.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPS...0&ATCLID=538215Try here. It's a little outdated, it looks like, but It's the best I've got for now.Next year we play @Syracuse and @Kentucky with Army and Cincy coming to the Rubber Bowl, it looks like.In 2009 in our new stadium (hopefully), we will play @Syracuse again, with Kentucky and Indiana coming to what I hope will be called Summa field at Wingfoot stadium, along with another team TBA and hopefully at home as well.Hopefully we switch the Cincy game to be @Cincy and play them in Akron in 2010, which is out next scheduled meeting.

Hopefully that other team is Youngstown State. Although $150k is a small paycheck in comparison to Ohio States $1.3 million over 2 years and Penn State's $350k for last year and the 2010 season.

Hopefully that team is NOT Youngstown State!!! No name team has been willing to come play us (partially because of our horrible facilities). Now that we are getting a new stadium we are starting to get teams from the Big East, Big Ten and SEC to come play us at home. Why on earth would we want to drop down and play a D-1AA team? The games against Kentucky, Indiana, etc... are guaranteed sellouts. YSU probably would be as well, but we get zero national exposure playing YSU. Also, when you are trying to impress recruits visiting what will do a better job....akron vs YSU or Akron vs Kentucky!! It is a no brainer.

SEC schools and Big10 Schools coming to a 27,000 seat stadium? Maybe Indiana and some bad SEC program, but that is it.YSU is a guaranteed sell and if Akron fans came out, it would sell out. There has got to be a reason we were Can't's #1 attended game back when we used to play them. What I do think you will see a lot more now is Akron on ESPN and ESPN2 during the season. A new stadium is good for TV, especially with fans in the seats, and Akron will have the newest facility in college football!:bow::bow:

I actually wouldn't mind YSU coming to the new stadium in 2009. It beats having to work out a 3-for-1 deal with some BCS school that doesn't deserve it, and it would be a good early test of local support and hopefully a test of the new stadium's expanded capacity as well. The more home games in the new stadium the better, plus more home games usually work out to more wins than away games. Since there wouldn't be a return game due to MAC policy on scheduling Non-Bowl-Division teams, it frees up a spot for some other team to come to the new stadium in 2010. Just my opinion. For the record, I was against YSU coming to the Rubber Bowl because there are none of the benefits that I mentioned above that would come with them visiting.

i have to agree with the last two posters.new stadium no way sec ,big ten teams are going to come to the new stadium simpy because of the size.thats why a 25k stadium makes no sense.most big ten teams can sell 50k +and will ofeer $$ for teams to come to there place. we might get indiana ect.when i see it ill believe it.we may get a nice to team to visit on the opening game of the new stadium, but that's it.i am tired of having to go on the occ all the time.when we get the new stadium hopefully we will use it.if a team is not willing to give a return visit then don't schedule them.

there is also a discussion on the mac board about the big ten looking for a new teams.they talked about rutgers,or cuse.then i think you would see alott of shuffling in c-usa,mac,and big east.the only reason i bring this up is if we do only build a 25k stadium it really liimits what we can do.we would pretty much be stuck in the mac forever.im not saying it's a bad thing, but it does limit our options.

Folks (especially eguins)...you are forgetting that Purdue is playing Toledo AT the Glass Bowl this year. And the Glass Bowl is no huge football stadium. In fact, this year there will be a record number of Big Ten teams playing road games against MAC teams. I like how Y-town people like to sit on the sidelines and criticize. You folks have had your chances to join the Major Leagues, and you've decided not to do so. Meanwhile, we've fought through our growing pains, have had some success, and are now poised to compete with even larger schools in both facilities and talent. Sounds like you guys missed the boat, and are now just dissappointed. Enjoy playing Northeast Connecticut Techincal College.

skip im a long time zip fan.im not trying to start a flame, but until i see a big ten,or sec play in akron im a a bit skeptical.if i remember wasn't indiana supposed to come to akron.what happened to that deal.now all of a sudden we are playing at there place.i dont care if other mac teams are playing big ten teams at there place.it does not mean they will be playing at akron.next year we have army, and cinnci.niether are in the sec or big ten.it's time for the a.d. to step up and getting akron some occ home games.every year it seems like we go on the road, and only have one occ home game.

RACER.....if you look at the future schedule Kentucky (SEC SCHOOL) is scheduled to play at Akron in 2009. Then in 2010 Syracuse (Big East) is scheduled to play at Akron. Sure, Indiana canceled, but can you really expect them to come play in the Rubber Bowl? I think if we had our new stadium this year Indiana is our home opener and that would have been the best day in UA football history.Enguin....as for your comment about "bad" SEC schools.......do you honestly think in a million years that beating you looks better for us and our program than beating a so-called bad SEC school such as Kentucky? FYI....Rivals has Kentucky rated as the #38 team in the country this year. Where is YSU ranked because I seemed to miss them? Oh yeah...you guys are picked 3rd in the Gateway conference!!! YSU was a thing of the past for us. We have moved on to bigger and better and unless people on this board realize that we will always be lumped in with the YSU's of the world. You also wanted to know why Can't scheduled you because there had to be a reason. Who knows why? I am not really concerned with how Can't is trying to grow their program. If I am trying to grow my program my best benchmark for success wouldn't be Can't. Look at the Boise States and Fresno's of the world. They schedule up, not down.

Racer: Indiana was suppose to play here this year, but with the advent of the new stadium 2 years away, Mack has revamped some of the schedule. It will either be Kentucky or Indiana playing the inaugral game in the new stadium. Also, look for other BCS schools to make the trek to Akron in the future.

You can get major teams to visit MAC stadiums.Toledo has had Kansas, Pitt, Minnesota, Purdue, Indiana and others. Plus they have Purdue and Iowa State this year and Arizona and Fresno State in the next few years. And some way they pulled off a game with OSU in Browns Stadium where they are the home team and control over 50,000 tickets. They stand to make $2.5 million on the game according to the Toledo Blade.Do some creative scheduling and don't think small.

We may have a preseason rank of 3rd in the Gateway, the best in I-AA, but we are still ranked 4th in the entire nation in I-AA...... I understand exactly what you are saying though.Preseason ranks:2005: 6thFinished 1st2006: 2ndFinished 1stHope to see you win the MAC This year, as long as it's not Can't and someone from Ohio I am happy! Go Penguins and GO ZIPS!

Hmmm. Seems as if someone keeps trying to turn our discusson back to "minor league" college football.Hey Eguins...we left 1-AA 20 years ago. We have now been in the majors for two decades. I frankly don't care how you guys are ranked against schools I have barely even heard of. Have a great season

The one on the site is definitely outdated, as it shows IU as a home game this year.It would be nice if they cleaned up that update. Now, as for MAC schools playing big teams, here are just a few in recent history:BC went to Central Michigan and Ball StateMinnesota went to you know where last year.Syracuse is going to Miami, and Iowa went there previously. They have other big names going there in the future.Pitt went to OU.
