ZachTheZip Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 The QB competition has been narrowed down to a race between Jackson and Jacquemain, according to This post on Rasor's Blog.Rodgers will likely redshirt unless an injury happens. Next year will get messy with 4 QB's in the mix, but I have the feeling that whomever starts the majority of games this year will be the favorite next year, and the only true competition will be from KC. The back-up at the end of the year will either switch positions or transfer. Rodgers will probably be groomed to be the starter for after everyone else graduates. Quote
blueandgold Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 I liked what Rasor had to say about Almondo Sewell. He's already penciled in as the starter at DE, which is a completely new position for him. I knew he was going to be a great player and so far he's exceeding my expectations. Quote
RACER Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 i think it's a good idea.it should help our depth on the defensive line.we have plenty of lb's so the move makes sense.the kid must have alott of abilty to start as a true freshman.it would be nice to have someone be able to rush the passer this year. timmyboy Posted August 18, 2007 Report Posted August 18, 2007 I personally am pulling for Jackson. I think that his ability to use his feet if the play breaks down is very important if the OL doesnt gel as quickly as expected. Quote
Buckzip Posted August 18, 2007 Report Posted August 18, 2007 I agree with Jackson. He is only a Sophomore and will make sophomore mistakes. However, the next 2 years after this should be something special for him. Please don't shoot me for saying this. But I see a little Troy Smith in CJ.TS wasn't a full time starter until his junior year. When he was a Sophomore, he liked his feet more than his arm. He was always tucking and running. However, once he got some experience and confidence he won the Heisman. He wasn't a very accurate passer at first, but then came on strong. I think a lot of people tend to forget that CJ is only a sophomore. I think he will be a star if given the opportunity and patience. Quote
gozips19 Posted August 18, 2007 Report Posted August 18, 2007 I will be stunned if CJ doesn't win the job. JD has been very high on him from day one and he has the greatest upside of all the QB's (Hakes included). I just hope that he has the mental thoughness to become the leader of the offense and eventually the team. Time will tell but with Jac as his back up I am not worried and Rodgers will be groomed as the next starter. Quote
zipboy Posted August 19, 2007 Report Posted August 19, 2007 Given how close it seems right now, I would not mind seeing both play at least the first few weeks. I am generally not a fan of platooning QBs, but neither has really won the job or lost the job. Quote
Zipsrifle Posted August 19, 2007 Report Posted August 19, 2007 It would be nice to put both in to see who reacts better in a game atmosphere, but we have a pretty tough schedule early on. Seems to me we should pick a starter to avoid controversy and keep the team focused. With that said, if we are blowing out someone, or getting blown out, put in #2. Of course, this could all be a waste of typing if #2 leaves, which I hope doesn't happen. Quote
