eguins Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 Not sure if this show is new or not; but its a good idea. YSU Started it I think 3 seasons ago and its a big success with a lot of calls. Good Luck with the show!!Can I pick up the signal here in Youngstown??? If not, you could listen to our's on 570 WKBN; it will sound crystal clear in Akron! Quote
ziptrumpet87 Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 we barely get 1350 here in Akron... don't know how you'd get it there. Quote
Sportsradio 1350 Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 The show will be hosted by Fred Moury and Sam Richardson. You can hear the show live on 1350am or online at SportsRadio 1350's Website Quote
Zipgrad01 Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 I was listening to 640 the other morning and I heard they carry all the Malone football games. How can Malone get a station with that sort of signal, yet Akron can't even get one that can broadcast over it's own entire city? Quote
Sportsradio 1350 Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 1350am is 5,000 watts Day and Night, which makes it the most powerful AM station in Summit county. There is an FCC mandated "NULL" to the southwest. WARF/Akron must protect it's signal from a station in Kentucky. That Null makes the signal difficult to hear along the I-77 White Pond to Route 18 area. Wadsworth is also lost, for the most part. With a good AM reciever you should have no problems. Sometimes an external AM antanna will make a huge difference. 640am is 5,000 watts daytime and 500 directional at night. Meaning after Sunset WHLO reduces power and changes signal pattern. Want to hear the games on FM? Email here: keithkennedy@clearchannel.com. Quote

GoZips88 Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 There is an FCC mandated "NULL" to the southwest. What a bunch of crap. I'm all of 8 miles to the southwest of Akron in Norton and I have to play around with the dial and antenna like I'm trying to pull in a signal from Tokyo. My vote is for FM or 640AM. Seems to me that you'd want to make SURE fairly well-to-do areas like Montrose (route 18), Copley, and Wadsworth are covered but what do I know. Sounds like I'll be listening to some of the games on the web again this year. Quote
ziptrumpet87 Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 the FCC has really crapped on Akron... lumping us in with Cleveland was the biggest hurt though Quote
zen Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 When I drive in N.Summit Co. I pick up 1350 better than I pick up 640.The FCC is screwy. If 1350 has to NULL zone the SouthWest, then there is probably a competing station on that frequency that direction (columbus, dayton?).What sux when that happens is you have to engineer your broadcast antenna setup to acocmplish this. Seems like we need both 640 and 1350. In northern Summitt, I agree, I get 350 perfect and can't get 640 at all. Quote
