SUPER BLOCK: Ohio special teams player Joshua Abrams hit the trifecta in the Bobcats win over Gardner-Webb as he blocked three punts, which is one shy of both the NCAA and MAC records. Abrams now has six career blocked punts. The 6-foot senior from Dunwoody, Ga., is a running back when not called on for his specialty.
We NEED to watch this guy when the Bobcats come to town!!!!

There's a silly temptation on my part to mention another FCS school from North Carolina at this moment, but I know it would be silly of me to compare Gardner-Webb to the two-time defending national champs. However, I wouldn't merely discount what OU was able to do on special teams simply based on the fact that (perhaps) you have never heard of Gardner-Webb. My original point was simply this. We've had some difficulty getting punts off, and OU apparently has a knack for blocking them. I hope nothing comes of it when we meet them, but I'm not exactly reassured in this just because Gardner-Webb is not a household word in NE Ohio.BTW, from recent history, G-W looks to be an average FCS squad. They were 6-5 in 2006 (including a 41-6 loss to Appy St.) and 5-6 in 2005,

Oh gee, pretty soon I'm going to have equins on here saying how YSU will be the next Appalachian State. All I am saying is that Gardner-Webb doesn't exactly have a great o-line (and yes I know of the team, I knew of Appy St before the Michigan game I even have a jersey from them that I bought back in '02). They are a lower end to middle of the pack program that had a weakness exploited and didn't adjust. Most of you think we have a problem because with less then a minute left in the game we get a punt blocked. Did we have any critical punts blocked? Nope, just the last one of the game when it was pretty much shored up and Army would have had to perform a miralce to win. I'm sure that JD is addressing the situation this week in practice. So just relax.

Actually (although I hate to give THEM any props), equins would be somewhat justified in saying that Appy St. is the next YSU (not the other way around). Your tone seems to indicate that my punting concerns are either totally unjustified or that they are a knee-jerk reaction to one freak play. This is something that has been brewing for all of last season. I certainly hope JD does correct things. I'd like nothing better than to say that I've been overreacting.
