Class of 82 Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 Just when you thought you'd seen it all, the Beacon Journal editorial page stoops lower than they've gone in years. According to the brain trust at Main and Exchange, children will go without dental care because Infocision and Summa gave $15 million for UA's new stadium.Funny how it isn't new art museum's (a multi-million-dollar monstrosity), main libraries, hike and bike trails, etc., that siphon away funds from the little kiddies' teeth. Nope, it's just the football stadium that should have been built 20 years ago. These people have no shame.Link http://www.ohio.com/editorial/opinions/9608907.html Quote
scottditzen Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 Did they lift that editorial from the Can't Stater? Quote
Ryno aka Menace Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 3 Comments and all 3 bash the editor! LOL!!! Quote
g-mann17 Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 Here's one for the Beacon. You released several writers (probably more then 4 but for sake of the argument) with average salaries of 28,000. Well then with just those numbers the Beacon could have kept open the Parenting Center (4 times 28000 is 112,000 afterall). You finally could have done something to contribute to the community as the paper's founder intended. Quote
ziptrumpet87 Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 Along the lines of the ABJ story, if anyone is involved with a group in Summit County that needs funding, please see my charity's web page regarding grants:HTLCCAF grant guidelines Quote
Class of 82 Posted September 6, 2007 Author Report Posted September 6, 2007 Way to go, Zips fans! Nine comments... all of them giving the hypocrites what for.Go Zips! Quote
mcperp Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 Wow, that article is so bad that I can't even accuse it of specious reasoning. Perhaps the ABJ should devote time to the millions of charitable dollars donated by Akron-area citizens that flow through local agencies such as the United Way, Haven of Rest, Red Cross, etc. Don't chastise the community for your poor perception and inability to critically analyze charitable efforts in the area. Looking forward to UA vs. Kentucky fall 2009! Quote
aurorabuckeye Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 Is this why Terry Pluto went to the Plain Dealer? Were the cuts just too much? Is the ABJ becoming irrelevant in Akron? Quote
