The offense is putrid. JD needs to find some horses. As I have said before, Dennis Kennedy is a fullback in a Tailbacks body. He has no speed or moves. The offensive line will learn from this game and be better for it. Both QB's received valuable experience against a good defense.Onto the defense. They looked great. If we had any type of depth, the second half may have been different. The difference between OSU and UA is that OSU was still fresh. This is the most impressed I have been with UA defense in a long, long time.Be honest, if I would have told you last week that OSU would only score 20 points on UA, you would have thought we would win.I know UA lost, but when you think back to losing to Penn State 81-0 and Florida 59-0 and Nebraska, whatever the blow out was, losing 20-2 is a pretty good improvement.

Hey Buckzip,Our defense today was OUTSTANDING. I mean, Akron only gas what, THREE first downs the who frigging game? Those kids on D were MEN hung out to dry all day. The only guy to step up in their defense was our punter, of all people. (I was waiting for a block all day. Good job by the secial teamers.)As for our offense, either OSU is unbelivievably good on defense, or we are not going to score much on anybody. I think OSU might be pretty good, but not that giid. All in all, I'm always proud to be a Zips fan, but I'm even more proud today.

I think what impressed me most about the D is the sheer amount of time they were on the field. They obviously wore out by the end of the game, but they lasted a VERY long time considering how often they were playing.

That is what I said too. The Akron starters were right there with the OSU starters. The difference is the depth. OSU rotated liberally all game long. Akron doesn't have that luxury. .......YET.

Sitting there watching the (repetitive) dive play with Kennedy to the left guard "hole" was making me sick.In my view, while OSU was playing a great defensive game, we made zero adjustments at the half---those repeated passes to the flat, diagnosed by OSU every time were not the answer.I was proud of the D--they just wore down over the repeated pounding. I think there was one pass to Poindexter--Kasparek was never a factor that I saw--thereby allowing OSU to ignore that "weapon" all day.I am worried about this offense, or lack thereof. Go Zips!!

the offensive play calling by the zips this week was just like last week's but even more offensive. There were EVEN MORE screens!!!! I don't recall a single one of them that worked, except for one where arthur put a move on a guy at the line of scrimage. All the rest of them were for almost nothing, just LIKE LASTWEEK.Hello? Learning curve please? How about this word: "adjustments"Let me put it this way. Even if they were only to "open up other plays", I would suggest that it was a failure in that regard too, but in order to scare a defense into playing a certain play or a certain spot on the field, you NEED TO SUCCEED at it. So, I'll say it again this week. We need to stretch their defense vertically, not just horizontally. That's all. I have no other complaints. Performance wasn't bad. Few errors. Defense and Special teams looked great.

zen i totaly agree.our offense had two plays the dive and the flare pass.we never even tried the short passed over the middle.the purpose of the dive is evenaully to fake it and have the qb run.we have two big te and never used them?

This is my response on another thread...Dr. Z we usually agree on everything but do you think that there was no half time adjustment becauseA. He felt that that swing passes, and screens were all we could do against that defense.B. The Buckeyes weren't stopping us "We" weren't executing the plays ex. missing blocking assignments, dropped balls etc.. I know when fans screen for half time adjustments a lot of times the locker room speech is that we are not executing so how can the coach say the plays don't work.C. He is just dumb and didn't make adjustments.D. He didn't have a backup game plan. He went into this game with an all of nothing attitude.
