Class of 82 Posted September 9, 2007 Report Posted September 9, 2007 Just reviewed the game comments and post-game comments at Suckey Planet. Out of about a hundred posts, I think perhaps a total of two gave ANY credit whatsoever to Akron's defense today. And people were actually worried about offending these jerks?I wonder how many points OSU gives up when ITS offense gets three first downs in a frigging game.I HATE (well, sorta hate) Ohio State.GO ZIPS!P.S OSU's defesne today was either scary good, or our offense is scary bad.P.P.S. Our defense today played like men. Well done. Quote

skip-zip Posted September 9, 2007 Report Posted September 9, 2007 Cicero...you and every other Suckeye was shaking in your shoes at halftime of this game. Quit the crap. You guys got out-physicalled by a MAC school. Don't believe it? Look at some clips of the way those fumbles went flying out of the hands of Columbus State players when they got hit mercilessly. Keep laughing at Michigan all you want, because it's only a matter of time before you lose to a "non-bcs" school also. Since the scholarship levels for 1-A dropped, and you were no longer able to "harbor" significant amounts of talent, and keep them on your bench, the playing field has leveled. Oh, by the way, your Suckeye friends have continued to uphold the tradition of the most classless fans in college football. And that's not coming from me, an Akron fan. I have plenty of OSU fans that are friends of mine that have acknowledged the same. Quote

Not that I disagree with what you are saying, but you might have a little more credibility if you don't get in to the name calling thing. At least IMHO, whenever anyone starts the name calling, they lose any "respect" I had for them. Again, that's just me and I know you don't care what I think. This is a thread about respect and here you are with your "suckeye" and "columbus state" stuff. BTW, I always find it amusing that whenever anyone thinks they are making a point, they will say "I have friends that agree with me" Like for some reason that gives what you are saying some validity. I used to have a neighbor that whenever he and I saw things differently, he would say "I have 3 friends that agree" Finally one time, I asked him if these were the same 3 friends that agree with everything he says or a different set of 3 friends.Just because someone "claims" others agree with them, doesn't make them right.Just look at the current war. There are many people that agree on both sides. That doesn't make either side right or wrong.Of course OSU has some trashy fans. So does Akron. The difference is when you have 100,000 people at an OSU game and 2% are jerks they stick out a lot more than the 2% of 10,000 fans at an Akron game. Believe me, I know there are some crappy Akron fans. I have 3 friends that agree with me too. By the way, I visit OSU boards and nobody is laughing at Akron. At least not on the site I go to. they may be upset that OSU didn't win bigger or say Akron shouldn't have been that close, but nobody is "laughing" or making fun of Akron. If they were, I would be all over them. Believe it or not, they are talking about their own team. They are talking about the problems they see and where improvements need to be made. Unlike this site, they aren't obsessed with bashing another team. Well, except Michigan.I know you will bash me now and go into attack mode. Have at it. I won't respond as I have said me peace on this matter.I am glad this week is over and now we can concentrate on the rest of the season and not bashing others for feeling diferently that you do. skip-zip Posted September 9, 2007 Report Posted September 9, 2007 Buckzip...Let me clarify, before you judge me for throwing out crap.I've lived in Ohio my entire life, as a sports fan, and surrounded by Ohio State fans. This was my FIRST EVER visit to Ohio State. And, I was warned by BUCKEYE FANS that we would be facing the most hostile and vulger environment we'd ever see.Not convinced yet?Me and my girlfriend were walking into the game, being badgered, as I had expected. Out of nowhere, this very nice man in an Ohio State shirt walked up to us, shaked our hands and said, "sorry, don't pay any attention to these idiots, you folks enjoy the game".It was a nice gesture from yet another person who KNEW what we were encountering. So, before you say this is MY opinion, know that these comments from me are coming from someone with NO PREVIOUS PERSONAL EXPERIENCE at an Ohio State football game. Fall all over yourselves? Nah.Show even a modicum of respect/class in victory? I guess that's too much to ask. Quote
you am i Posted September 9, 2007 Report Posted September 9, 2007 i listened to the osu post-game call-in show and the radio guys spoke well of akron. they were critical of ua's offensive coaching staff for failing to make adjustments once it was clear that the game plan was not working at all. the callers were all osu fans so of course they were totally focused on the strengths and shortcomings of the play of osu. that's just natural. same thing for the buckeye board. no big deal.i was at the game and it was nice to see that when the zips were leaving the field at the conclusion of the game the osu fans nearby were standing and applauding to acknowledge the team's effort. the guy i went with is a big osu fan and was predicting a blowout. he was stunned at halftime. by the end of the game he admitted that he had seriously underestimated akron. Class of 82 Posted September 9, 2007 Author Report Posted September 9, 2007 That's really nice to hear. I also had a good (really good, actually) experience with OSU fans where I watched the game. I was referring to the self-righteous blowhards over at buckeye planet. Our day will come. Quote

Here OSU fans have been attacked for saying good things. They aren't over there attacking Akron fans. Come on now, be a little objective. Quote
coachk Posted September 9, 2007 Report Posted September 9, 2007 I wanted to say good job to both the zips and the buckeys. I think it is hard to cheer agaist either team. I am an Akron grad/zips fan and a buckey fan. Quote

As for losing to a mid major school I have no doubt it will happen. Basic stastistics will tell you that. You really need to get over yourself. Quote
