For the Zips Locker Room Bulletin Board

Don't want to look past BSU but maybe someone will put this up in the locker room during the bye week...

Marshall: The offense continues to struggle as Graham Gochneaur and Stan Hill are each having major problems getting the passing attack rolling. Ahmad Bradshaw and Josh Davis are the only ones making plays. The defense is saving the season bailing the rest of the team out during this tough patch. With layups against Buffalo, UCF and Akron ahead, the team will get more time to try and sharpen everything up.

I found the article. Just as I expected, it's from the geniuses at College Football News. Who cares what they think? Their comments about Graham Goke and Josh Davis are off, too.

As far as locker room fodder, it wasn't anything written or said by Marshall coaches or players. It is still a definite motivating factor though because it gives the Zips a chance to prove to the nation, on national TV, that they are not the bottom dwellers that Buffalo, Can't, and UCF are. Right now I would say they on the level of OU which is just a step below Miami and Marshall. In two weeks they have the opportunity to "step up" to the big boys. The Zips beat them here two years ago and knocked out Leftwich. The Rubber Bowl should be full, and the fans and team will be fired up. Lets take care of business with BSU and then give the Blundering Terd something to remember the Zips by when they go to Conference USA. Go Zips!

I'm not sure I'd put us in the OU range right now. I haven't seen any dramatic improvements from the team that got spanked by NIU. The running game has improved but I account some of that to the weakness of the opponents defense. The passing game seems to be stagnant, not a good sign with a star QB.

Actually, I guess there is one area where we have made some dramatic improvements, that would be the Defense. :thumb: I don't believe that Buffalo's running game or UCF offense was that bad. We did an excellent job against them and somehow managed to contain Cribbs.

Before I say that we're on level with OU or Miami, I'm going to have to see a big running game tomorrow along with a big passing game with no Defensive let down. If we blow out BSU on this one, I'll put us in the OU, Miami category. If not, I'm afraid it won't be pretty against Marshall.

There was a big letdown for me at the beginning of the year and it's going to take some convincing to make me feel that we are an average team and not just a Good Bad team. Remember, BSU and the teams we've beat are all either on the Bottom 10, on the waiting list, and are ranked near the bottom everywhere else. All I'm hoping for is continued improvement. I'm out...on the road back to Ohio, see everyone at the game tomorrow.
