I wonder what they will do with that space? >>"In five or so years, we need to have 4,000-5,000 spaces for students to live on campus." 2 new dorms are to be built near Gallucci. I think I read this has already begun? Gallucci will be renovated or replaced. Also, a new National Polymer Processing Center is to be built...first I heard of this. Anyone know if the McDonald's move across from Jackson Field is still on? I thought they were supposed to start clearing the area this fall. Quote
grice Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 McDonald's would have to move if a stadium is coming to that location. For now, the area just east of Jackson Field seems to be the first choice for a new campus stadium. Quote

I thought they were supposed to start clearing the area this fall. Well, I see they are now clearing the spot where McDonalds was suppposed to move to. But I'm not sure what will actually be built there, since they're talking about new dorms in that area also. I also checked out the new library downtown. Quite a different look and feel inside compared to the old one. Why didn't they build it by the canal like they were talking about? Couldn't acquire enough land, perhaps? Quote
Guest RTN Posted December 10, 2004 Report Posted December 10, 2004 There is a construction trailer with the McDonald's "Here we grow again" logo at the site. Also, the constuction company that does all of the McDonald's work is there. Looks like a McDonald's to me. Quote

Guest Guest Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 I hate McDonalds.....Put in another Taco Bell. Quote
Guest RTN Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 You may hate McD's...however, the local franchisers will undoubtedly do a job with the "theme" of the restaurant. It will probably be a "Zippy"/U of A motif. I would be most surprised of they don't. With Taco Bell, you get tacos and a frickin' bell. If it is just the food you dislike, I can appreciate that aspect of it. McD's will (probably) be a better university partner. Go Zips!! Quote
UA Fan Posted December 24, 2004 Report Posted December 24, 2004 There was a previous article stating that the new McD's would have a large Zippy statue. Hopefully he will be in place by summer, ready to watch over football practices on L J Field. Maybe they'll be able to acquire a #5 Zips jersey to frame and hang on the wall. It's just a McDonalds but it will brighten up the area. As for their food, I could eat Big Macs and fries every day if I wasn't concerned about my health & weight. Did anyone see that movie about the guy who lived on nothing but McD's for a month or so? Didn't he end up getting sick? Quote
Guest Guest Posted December 25, 2004 Report Posted December 25, 2004 The only good food at McDonalds is the Sausage McMuffin and the Fries. Everything else tastes like cardboard. Quote
Guest ***GUEST_Z.I.P. Posted December 26, 2004 Report Posted December 26, 2004 It might be a long distance from their next closest establishment, but how would you like a take-out restaurant in the neighborhood who's motto is "Next stop, Zippy's"? www.zippys.com Quote
