KentZip Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 Marlton (N.J.) Cherokee athlete Lynell Payne took his third official visit over the weekend, this time to see Clemson.“I’d give it a 10,” Payne said when asked to evaluate his trip. “I got to see everything I needed to see. From their style, to the team, and Coach (Tommy) Bowden is pretty down-to-earth.“Game day atmosphere is really the difference for Clemson (over other visits Connecticut and Cincinnati).”What’s next for Payne?“Those are my top three right now,” he said. “I don’t have a leader. I’m going home to sit down and talk and think about everything. I might take another visit to Akron, but I’m not sure on that.” Quote
KentZip Posted October 12, 2007 Author Report Posted October 12, 2007 Apparently he signed with Cincy... per Scouts. Quote
akronad Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Just as a point of reference, he might have committed to Cincy, but he has not signed. We are not into a signing period right now. Quote
ziptrumpet87 Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Speaking of Cincy.... the latest SI has two of their HS teams ranked in the top 10 for the nation; Colerain and St. X. I wonder if UC has similar problems recruiting thier backyard as we do. With their (UC) success on the field this year, they may have an easier time than we've had. Quote

With their (UC) success on the field this year, they may have an easier time than we've had.Yes, UC does have a problem recruiting in the city of Cincinnati. If they kept the talent at home that team would be scary because Cincinnati may have the best high school football in the country. OSU also has a hard time recruiting Cincinnati. Many of the top kids in that area go to Notre Dame, Michigan, Tennessee, etc...I think part of the reason they haven't been able to recruit the area is perception of the program. Sound familiar? Until this year, their fan support has been terrible. The stadium has been empty and nobody in the city has cared about the team. Mark Dantonio came in and really turned the program around. He emphasized recruiting the Cincy area and things turned. Dantonio left the cupboard pretty full when he left for Michigan State, but Brian Kelly is doing a hell of a job as his replacement. They are really starting to get noticed by the local talent as well. Quote
