ZachTheZip
The pre-season Mid-Major Top 25 came out on Wednesday.http://www.midmajortop25.com/Per tradition, or by proxy, Gonzaga is rated #1. Central Michigan 13-18 105 NR OTHERS RECEIVING VOTES: Ohio 27 Nice to see we are still better than Can't in the minds of the nation's coaches. Z.I.P.
Bummer, the AP Poll isn't out yet so you are correct gozips19.Can ANYONE out there explain how in the world Central Michigan is so highly rated this year? They won just 13 games a year ago, now they're a nationally-ranked mid-major?? Do they have THAT good a recruiting class???
gozips19
yes....if they can stay eligible they'll be tough!
BirdZip
Things I find interesting about these rankings:1) Austin Peay is ranked above us.2) We play two of the teams ranked above us this year (Austin Peay & Winthrop). Unfortunately, they're ranked directly above us.3) Toledo shows up nowhere.4) We're the highest ranked MAC team, but we're picked to finish fourth in the MAC East in the MAC News Media Association poll. Two of the teams (Can't State and Miami) are right near us, but Ohio is nowhere near us (50th, if I counted right).

Two of the teams (Can't State and Miami) are right near us, but Ohio is nowhere near us (50th, if I counted right). These early season polls mean squat. The MAC should be a much deeper and balanced conference this year. Can't must be respected due to the fact that nearly everybody is back. Christian used a deep rotation last year and has a lot of experience to call upon. Interesting that OU gets little respect, they have probably the best frontcourt tandem returning in the MAC but much like us they lack experience at the point. I look for a big year out of Western in the west, and expect rapid improvement from Eastern as well as Medlock is healthy again and has some decent talent coming in to help. Ziegler has done a great job of rebuilding at Central Mich also. Other than possibly N Ill and Ball State, wins will not come easy in this conference. The Zips will need to get quality minutes early in the season from Mc Nees in particular at the point to retain their top spot in the East. I hope he's ready but I really feel that Akron won't be playing their best hoops until well into january. Hopefully that will translate into a successful MAC tourney. The East again is the much tougher of the two divisions. Look for Buffalo and Toledo to take a step or two back from the success that both teams enjoyed last year as both teams were hit pretty hard by the graduation of key performers. My selections:East West1. Can't 1. Western Mich2. Miami 2.Central Mich3.Akron 3. Eastern Mich4. OU 4. Toledo

Do they have THAT good a recruiting class???Because they have Watson, who maybe (arguably) the best PG in the entire conference. Not to mention that the huge improvement they had with their new coach. Their guard's aren't bad, it's their front court that may be the issue with Central Michigan.
