The shifty back had been busy taking visits this week, but it was one school who has always had a place with him and they won the derby for his services. Norman Shuford, a 5'9, 170-lb tailback from Farmington Hills (MI) Harrison committed to Akron over the weekend. Shuford had offers from Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan as well as from Michigan State, Central Michigan and Grand Valley State. In fact, Shuford had been to Allendale earlier in the week, but it was his official visit to Akron on Saturday that sealed the deal. "GVSU was cool," Shuford reported, "but I went on my official to Akron and it was great. I had a really good time and I felt like I was at home, so I committed." As is the case with most recruits, Shuford is excited about his new home, but maybe even more glad (initially at least) that the rigors of being a college recruit are done with. We have a long way to go before we can catch up with Temple and Miami, though. Do you think that the two games on ESPN2 helped at all? I'm surethe win over OU helped quite a bit. Quote

Michigan and UA.The others were all interest. There is a big difference between an offer and interest. Quote

MSU would have been a bigger visibility opportunity (not necessarily better though - big fish in a smaller pond vs possibly smaller fish in a big pond). Quote
