I like our chances Saturday for several reasons.

1. This team has some big kahunas. They won't beat themselves. Miami will have to take it.

2. JD and staff have been the model of consistency, never too high or too low. From an X and O standpoint, we have some good guys on our side.

3. #5

4. Betts is a good player but tends to make mistakes. And we tend to take advantage of mistakes.

5. Is it just me or does the karma seem right?

I would love to see Akron/Miami emerge as the next great rivalry in the East. The league is only as strong as its weakest links. Akron, Can't, EMU, and Buffalo have not pulled their weight for sometime. Akron has the ability and size to become the NIU anchor in the East. After last week, the loss of Marshall to cusa does not seem that bad.

One guy I feel happy for is Joe Dunn. He is the Herb Score of Zips athletics. Has anyone seen more tough losses than him? I could just picture Joe on the sideline vs Marshall. "Hey, it's only 28-7, if the Zips get a turnover, recover an onside kick, have the punter fumble the snap, we can win this in regulation." More of us should learn to be as optimistic.

A loss to OU and I would have wondered how far have the Zips have come. A loss to Miami, I can stomach. They are a good team.

No freebie tickets this week, I think we pull in a legit 20K. That would speak volumes for how far things have come.

Looking for a tight ballgame. Zips know how to win, Akron 27-20 in a nailbiter. No regrets, Go Zips!!

I have to tell ya Zipboy, there is only ONE Big Kahuna on this team, and his name is JD! Now on the other hand, there may be several others with gran cojones. But I've never been in the locker room, so don't ask me.

Now I just want to use this emo cause I've never seen anyone use it before, and I don't know what it means either: :tomato: Go tomatoes!

Well folks, I too am optimistic for the game this week. I think the key in the past couple weeks for the Zips has been our ability to hold onto the ball and the inability of our opponents to do the same. I am hoping that this is due to the Akron Defense having a nose for the ball. If that is the case, then should be a good show on Sat. If Miami holds onto the ball though, it's gonna be rough.

Even last week the Defense didn't shutdown the Bobcats offense. In addition, we weren't able to march down the field at will and score. We seemed to take a few steps backwards last week on pass protection and tackling as well. In order for us to stay in the game this week we'll need to wrap up on the Defense and take care of Frye. Biggs was semi-effective last week, it would be nice to see him roll up some big numbers this week. Our receivers will need to find their hands earlier as well.

Don't get me wrong, I do honestly believe that the Zips can win this game, but we'll need to keep up the week to week improvement pace. If we don't make an improvement, we'll only be able to win if Miami coughs the ball up at opportune times. If we do make improvements, then we should be able battle Miami the entire game. We've got home field advantage, the underdog status, and a "Find a way to win" attitude. In years past everyone in the country would have already confidently chalked up a Zips loss in this game. This year, everyone is keeping the chalk in their pocket till the fat lady sings.

I WANT TO CHARGE THE FIELD ONE MORE TIME!

Go Zips!
