MACReport Posted December 5, 2007 Report Posted December 5, 2007 For the second straight year the average annual compensation packages for Mid-American Conference football coaches were the lowest among all Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) conferences according to a study released by USA Today. We break it all down in our report at MAC Report Online:http://www.macreportonline.com Quote
ziptrumpet87 Posted December 6, 2007 Report Posted December 6, 2007 Just out of curiosity, I wonder how we compare to the upper-tier D-1AA (YSU, Appy St, etc.)? Quote
skip-zip Posted December 6, 2007 Report Posted December 6, 2007 Maybe this helps some of the people who are always screaming for us to get a "high profile" coach understand why it's so difficult to get one. Quote
ZipAlumn Posted December 6, 2007 Report Posted December 6, 2007 I realize that it is a matter of what you are worth in comparison to others in your field, but a quarter of a million dollars a year is good money in anyones book. I realize that you can't compare pay ranges across job descriptions, but I know many business people that have as much or more responsibility than a football coach that don't make $250,000 a year. I understand capitalism and getting what he market will bear, but still a quarter of a million a year isn't dog food. Quote
RACER Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 good point.i think almost all mca programs lose money,or just break even.it's nice for the zip fans to want to play the coach1 million a year, but who will pay for it.mac programs dont have it to spend.it will be hard enough to build a new stadium.where is all this cash going to come from.look at saban at alabama.they gave huge money, and look what it got them.it be nice to pay coaches that much but the mac schools do not have the revenue. ZachTheZip Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 Some big schools can cover a HC salary on donations alone. You get what you pay for. The average HC salary in NCAA D-I football is over $1,000,000. How can we compete when we can only afford to pay our coach 1/4 of that? Quote
