zen
http://www.ohio.com/news/12343741.htmlRooBrew Lager is the first style in what they hope is an eventual stable of six beers. Thirsty Dog owner John Najeway described it as a traditional German-style lager with a golden color and 6 percent alcohol.Other examples in that style include Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold, Gordon Biersch Golden Expert, Hofbrau Lager and Buzzards Bay Olde Buzzard LagerSounds interesting. :up:RooBrew isn't affiliated with the university...Thats a shame. Something with zippy, or better yet, the Roo, on the label would have garnered more purchases from me.The company logo features an outline of a kangaroo, and blue and gold — the school colors. The university, though, isn't opposed to RooBrew.''The university has not trademarked the word Roo,'' UA spokesman Ken Torisky said. ''And it has no objection to anyone using the word in regards to a product.''In some ways, I am dissappointed, but in others, it doesn't suprise me... because "roo" has been used in other places and creations, so I'm not sure you could try to take full control of it anyway... and the laize faire attitude is rather refreshing compared to typical corporate power grab over every minor detail. ziptrumpet87
Hopefully it ends up the official beer of InfoCision Stadium!
g-mann17
Hopefully it ends up the official beer of InfoCision Stadium!I would settle for it being a selectable choice at the stadium. But somehow I doubt that Thirsty Dog has the millions to buy the "rights" to be the stadium beverage. We will end up with Coors or Budweiser

Coors and Miller, right?"-UA negotiator: "We want a modified exclusive supplier rights contract. We have a local brewery with a product of interest to our program"-Busch rep: "We require exclusive rights to venues"-UA rep: "So says Coors and Miller, but the first one to allow for the local product will get the contract"-Busch rep: "Tell ya what. We'll throw in an extra mill over the contract period for all rights excluding even the local brewery"-UA rep: "Uhh, well take your offer under advisement"Ching! ZippyRulz
Is this the same Thirsty Dog brewery that used to be out at Montrose? Did they close that one and move to Grant St.? Is it just a brewery now and not a public bar/pub? Hopefully RooBrew will be tasty and widely available around town. Maybe that would get folks pumped up about the Zips (if they don't instead complain about a lack of Buckeye Ale availability).

g-mann17
Buck Nuts Ale ... YUCK! I've heard how that is made, cold filtered over a fat-non-college-educated-lives-in-Barberton-with-no-true-loyalty-to-the-school-other-then-the-thought-that-scarlet-and-gray-looks-pretty-Buckeye Fan's taint for a naturally smooth refreshing sweaty buck nut flavor "Taste the nuts, Buck Nuts Ale!" ZippyRulz
Maybe Thirsty Dog would be the new logical hangout for watching Zips away games, sipping on some RooBrew!
Big Zip
Thirsty Dog doesn't have a restaurant any longer -- they only have a brewery in Akron. Last I read they were going to open a tasting room. I believe the brewery is in the old Akron Brewery just off 76 on Broadway or something. This is not a Thirsty Dog beer. Thirsty Dog is brewing the beer. Thirsty dog had been brewing their beer on the East Coast for a few years, but the brewery was bought by Budweiser or somthing. Thus prompting them to buy the Akron Brewery and brew their own beer again.
