GoZips Posted December 20, 2007 Report Posted December 20, 2007 Wednesday night's game against the North Carolina A&T Aggies was the coming out party for Darryl Roberts and Brett McKnight. On two days practice and completely out of sync with how Dambrot runs his team the two young men proved their medal in limited minutes.Anyone present can confirm that I was not some "goofball" when I pegged them as impact players. They are the real deal.Darryl Roberts operated as the "two" guard (shooting guard) in his inital game. Coach Dambrot will probably let Roberts run the point Friday against Youngstown.Roberts drained a beautiful trey on his first and only shot attempt.Brett knocked in both his long range shots (downtown treys). He looked agile and flowed well. Myself and I suppose many others thought "oh no" on Brett's secondlong range bomb. The instant thought was that J Wood (got to love him) was launching from beyond his range. Well, it was all net for young McKnight. Beautiful. These two are a fantasic shot in the arm for the Zips. They give the Zips a depth coach Dambrot has never enjoyed previously here. At least ten deep and not enoughminutes.I was particularily impressed with the "three hole" play last night. Aside from Brett, Nate Linhart had an excellent game as did Chris McKnight and Jimmy Conyers. Theyknow now that their minutes are going to be earned on the floor.Chris McKnight looked impressive playing the power forward position just as Jimmy Conyers handled the third guard role quite well. I was pleased with both of them. Quote
ziptrumpet87 Posted December 20, 2007 Report Posted December 20, 2007 I only saw the second half, but I wasn't that impressed with the D in the low post when JWood wasn't in and on a few occasions that he was. McNees didn't seem as crisp last night as I've seen previously (again, I only saw the second half).I'll reserve my opinions on Roberts and BMcK after I've seen more minutes. And what was with the no-call on the goal tend? It sure looked to me like the A&T guy trapped the ball on the glass. Were the guys really playing that sloppy or were the refs trying to get their whistles broken in for the conference games? Quote
joshgozips Posted December 20, 2007 Report Posted December 20, 2007 Not to mention that if B. McKnight and Roberts stay in the rotation, that Coach used a legitmate ELEVEN man rotation against A&T. ELEVEN! Not surprising for Coach and good to have such depth with a rough and tumble MAC season where teams need as many healthy, rested bodies as possible. Quote

McKnight continue to gel and get better I would think that Conyers and C. McKnight would be the odd men out in a 9 man rotation. Possibly Milum instead of Conyers, but doubtful. Quote
