skip-zip Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 I don't know about you guys, but I just about had a heart attack tonight.I went into this game hoping for a decent showing, and got probably the best performance the Zips have ever played against a ranked team.KD just said in his post-game interview that he is proud of the performance. I could not agree more. I wished we had won, but I am not one bit dissappointed. OK....I now believe that McNees is ready to play at crunch time. That's good to know, although I think that Ced being in the game during overtime could have been the difference. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY....going into conference play, we may have just shown that we can handle playing a good team on the road, in front of a big crowd. That will be HUGE during conference play. Quote
jeaglet1 Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 McNeese impressed me tonight. Akron was definetly pumped for this game, and i got the feeling UD was looking past the zips. Question is, can they play with the intensity we saw tonight @ Miami and @ Ohio (we all know they will at Can't) Quote
skip-zip Posted January 3, 2008 Author Report Posted January 3, 2008 @Miami @Can't and @Ohio will be the 3 big ones. Winning ANY of those games on the road would be big. Quote
Flyer1407 Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 Hey guys just got back from the Arena.A few thoughts about the game.Terrific game, I thought you guys played great. The people around me all said the same thing. Akron played VERY hard tonight.Wood inside is a beast! I can't believe he didn't get a shot at the end of the 2nd OT down 2.Your guards played great 4 made huge shots and 11 was an absolute floor general.33 did a great job on Roberts all night.I thought Dayton looked past Akron a little but thats no excuse. Akron played like they were playing the #20 team and it was their biggest game.Talking with some people around me we all said the same thing......if Akron played anyone else in the Non-Conference they might be a top 30 team. You're good inside and out and compete with just about anyone. Honestly something has to be done about the schedule because you guys have the players to have to compete on a national level but don't because of the scheduling.Best of luck the rest of the way and good luck in the MAC! skip-zip Posted January 3, 2008 Author Report Posted January 3, 2008 Flyer 1407..thanks for the feedback, from someone who was at the game.Believe me, many of us are livid about our OOC schedule strength. It's doing us no good. That's why our matchup with you presented such a good opportunity for us. Especially with what you folks have accomplished as of late.Believe it or not, the #11 that you refer to, Nick Dials, is really a 2-guard, and is playing the point out of necessity after Dru Joyce (LeBron's old high school teamate) graduated. But he is a great player. Good luck to the Flyers the rest of the way!! Quote
UDPride Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 If tonights performance is any indication of your talent level and playmaking, you will win 24 games this year and be in the postseason. Every time you needed a big shot, you just rained it. Our 3-pt fouling was a thing of beauty wasnt it. We didnt play our best and Roberts missed some shots he usually makes, but I credit Akron for a lot of that. I dont believe we overlooked you. You'd beat most of the teams we've beaten. I think you have a Top-40 club. No question. Assuming you can play like you did tonight on a routine basis which I cant answer. Quote
