bigzipguy
Here is my analysis of the game and a look ahead. I took a pad and pen to the game tonight. What I was keeping track of was: touches in the paint and points in the paint for several different players.1.) Chris M. 5 touches in the paint, 8 points in the paint2.) J. wood 4 touches in the paint , 3 points in the paint3.) Brett M. 1 touch in the paint, 0 points in the paint.Note: I count touch in the paint as actually receiving the pass in the lane or within 1 foot of the laneAlso: points in the lane are via a basket or foul shots made.My point is , our 3's were falling , still not enough points in the paint. The look ahead: The win today did give the Zips a first round bye, which of course is good. But , do the Zips or the flushes for that matter want to face each other in the Semis?? I doubt it.Because I expect Westerm Mich to win their remaining 2 games(they won tonight at Toledo), if Can't loses 1 of their remaining 2 games, West Mich gets the #1 seed, and assuming the Zips get the #3 seed, the Zips and flushes have a good chance of meeting in the semis. w00t
Because I expect Westerm Mich to win their remaining 2 games(they won tonight at Toledo), if Can't loses 1 of their remaining 2 games, West Mich gets the #1 seed, and assuming the Zips get the #3 seed, the Zips and flushes have a good chance of meeting in the semis. This is kind of a bummer, but what really matters is nabbing that three seed and avoiding Miami or OU in the quarters. The last four standing will almost assuredly be quality teams, so at that point I guess it doesn't much matter who you draw for the semis and the finals, you're going to have to win two really tough games to be the champ. skip-zip
bigzipguy...you know how much I think it's important that Chris M. touch the ball in the post. I think that will be a key in the tournament to take some heat off of Jeremiah. If not, we better continue to play great defense, and shoot 60% from the 3-line if we want to win the title. Woot...I totally agree with you. We'll see how the seeds work out, but I'd say avoiding Ohio or Miami in the quarterfinals would be a huge bonus. And avoiding Can't in the Semis wouldn't be bad either. With that said, Can't #1, WMU #2, and Akron #3 is probably the best scenario for us. I'd rather face Can't in the semis than lose to them at the JAR. Heck, maybe Miami would take out WMU in the semis and we could get some revenge. GoZips88
I want the win over Can't at the JAR next Sunday night. If that means playing them in the semis in Cleveland so be it. No way do I want that team of clowns to win at our place. Make it a no-doubter to remind them of the crap we witnessed at Can't and set the stage for another match in Cleveland. The loss at BG may have helped plant a seed of doubt in their minds ... I want to pour a little water (insert image of ornery Akron guy taking a leak on the Can't logo here) on that seed heading into the tournament. I refuse to lose to them on our own floor, I will not have any of it. We have to defend the JAR and get some revenge for that first meeting back in January. I will be there Sunday, loud and rowdy, and I hope everyone will do the same. I plan on doing lots of this to Cant that night. GO ZIPS! 6 days.....And how could I forget...
