NITology has Akron playing in the CBI Tournament

Accordingly to NITology, they have Akron playing in the newly created CBI tournament, which is the same organization that runs the Coaches vs Cancer tournament, along with the tournament in Alaska that the Zips played in. Frenchie was talking about it during the post game show, and it sounds equal to the NIT, but with all the games being played at the schools, and none at a neutral place (like Madison Sq Garden and the NIT). The finals, though, is a cool thing. It is a 3 game series, with the schools hosting each game (ie-home, away, home-if 3rd game needed). Home games throughout the entire tournament is based on average home attendence.Right now, they have Akron as a #2 seed playing in the Midwest Region, against Utah, and the other pair is Missouri and Boise St.Ohio is the only other MAC team in the CBI, as a #3 seed in the East Region, against Wright St, and the other pair is Seton Hall and Valpo.Again, these are only projections, along neither of the 3 tournaments have Western anyway.Thoughts - If Akron doeesnt win the MAC tournament, which would you rather play in - The NIT or this new, possible up and coming tournament/possible flop of a tournament, CBI?

NOT good for the good guys or us fans. Have you priced airline travel to Utah lately?
Just for fun, I went to expedia, and did a search from Akron-Canton to Salt Lake City, leaving Tues March 16, coming back March 18.....$555.00/person round trip....

Is anyone other than me concerned with the fact that this new tournament is just another ploy for making money. Don't get me wrong, I am not against watching the Zips play ball, or making money, but at what point do we end the basketball season? Is it with the conference tournament for those teams that aren't good enough for the NIT or the NCAA's. Do we need a tournament for every team with every type of record (winning or losing) to make it in to? And what will the quality of basketball be like in a tournament like this. Granted, there are plenty of good, competitive teams, with great players on them, but at some point the season must end, and I believe that the conference tournaments, NIT, and NCAA's are the way it should end for every team. Win or lose.

byran i am not taking shot at you.you do not realize is the nit was cut down last year.actually it's alott harder for any team to make postseason play in ball than football.the cbi is only replacing what was taken away from the nit last year.or would you prefer to have a 26 win team like the zips sit at home like last year? how is that fair.
