  2. Several high profile recruits have visited Akron in recent weeks. The new staff is busy performing last minute recruiting magic. Giorgio Bowers (Soft Verbal to NIU)http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recr...io-Bowers-85648Keith Sconiershttp://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recr...-Sconiers-92544Micah Robinsonhttp://rivals.yahoo.com/cleveland/football...h-Robinson-1054Kevin Henry (Soft Verbal to CMU)http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recr...vin-Henry-95925
  3. Richard Hall's Scout Profile link:http://hswestvirginia.scout.com/a.z?s=413&...amp;nid=4266308Trust our coaching staff over the flawed science of star rankings. Of the current Zips playing in the NFL, only Andy Alleman was a *** star player coming out of high school. More significantly, of the 2009 NFL Draft First Round: 18 of the 32 picks were ** or *** Star players coming out of High School (11 of 32 were ** Stars)
  4. See Rivals link below:http://cleveland.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1040964
  5. Dylan Ennis talks about his basketball experience in Toronto, New York and at Lake Forest Academy. He also explains why he chose the Zips. Very well-spoken and mature for a high school junior.Click on link below:
  6. See snippet from Chicagohoops.com below:Head Coach Keith Dambrot, And The University Of Akron, Score A Verbal Commitment From Class Of 2011 Lake Forest Academy Star Dylan Ennis Brian StinnetteOctober 19, 2009 Email Questions/Comments To brian@chicagohoops.com Head coach Keith Dambrot, and the University of Akron have scored a verbal commitment from Class of 2011 Lake Forest Academy star Dylan Ennis. Ennis, who transferred into Lake Forest Academy this fall, is one of the top 2011 prospects in the state of Illinois. Ennis, a 6'0" point guard, is a true floor general who delivers with his strong handle, court instincts and his ability to drop shots with range. Ennis is coming off of a strong run on the travel team circuit with Team Takeover. Lake Forest Academy head coach Matt Vaughn confirmed the commitment by Ennis to Akron, and noted that the family was really excited, and that they were very comfortable with the coaching staff at Akron. This coming season, Ennis will team with fast-rising Class of 2012 star Charles Harris and 2010 stars Michael Banczer and Remy N'Diaye on what will be another strong Lake Forest Academy team.
  7. Mike Bizzarro long-jumped over 21 feet and cleared 6-8 in the high jump during his high school career.
  8. More good news regarding the future of Akron's soccer program - Parade's All-American High School Soccer Team was announced on Sunday and two future Zips were listed:Forward Teal Bunbury, Prior Lake, Minn, SeniorMidfielder Ben Speas, Stow, Ohio, Junior
  9. Dambrot mines Ohio HS basketball talent more aggressively and successfully than any of the 12 DI coaches in Ohio. Akron currently leads all Ohio-based Division I basketball teams with 14 players from Ohio (with three players from Akron). Ohio State (Big Ten) - 7Cleveland State (Horizon) - 8Wright State (Horizon) - 6Youngstown State (Horizon) - 5Dayton (Atlantic Ten) - 6Xavier (Atlantic 10) - 8BGSU (MAC) - 5Can't State (MAC) - 1Ohio (MAC) - 5Toledo (MAC) - 4Miami (MAC) - 9
  10. According to Rise Magazine, the Zips have added two nationally ranked recruits to their roster for 2008:Teal Bunbury, Shattuck-St. Mary’s (Faribault, Minn.), (Ranked as the 20th best HS player in the country; 6th best forward)Darlington Nagbe, St. Edward (Lakewood, Ohio), (Ranked as the 21st best HS player in the country; 7th best forward) PS - Green is ranked as the 15th best HS player
  11. Nice article regarding Jared Province:http://www.tribune-chronicle.com/page/cont...0.html?nav=5024Although he was mostly known for his talent as a running back in high school he may end up playing saftey at Akron. Runs a very impressive 10.8 in the 100 meter dash. Great pick-up by the Zips.

  13. The PIAA "Big School" all-state selections were released today and Akron verbal Marvase Byrd from McKeesport was selected as a Second Team RB.
  14. Another JC football player interested in Akron is former Boise State WR Aiona Key. He is a very athletic 6'4'' wideout with speed and serious hops - he high jumped 7 feet in HS. One scouting service indicates that he made an official visit to Akron in the fall. However, his school of primary interest appears to be Utah.http://jcfootball.scout.com/a.z?s=87&p...amp;nid=3509161http://cleveland.rivals.com/viewprospect.a...326&sport=1
  15.
