I simply do not see Akron losing this game. (Bite my tongue, I should know better)
Buffalo is bad, REALLY bad. I had higher expectations for them to be at least a 4-8/5-7 caliber team (much like us and the school in Portage Co.)
However, they will be lucky to pull off 3 wins this year on second thought.
Kentucky game was a poor showing, and Temple and Indiana showed us again Akron is competitive, but has a tough time closing games. I think head to head, every team we've played so far is confidently better than Buffalo. INCLUDING Morgan State.
I say 27-17 Zips.

You are still watching?
Anyone connected or affiliated with Arth needs to be "cleansed" from this program. When the bus arrives back from Toledo, their should be some of those JAR ushers with packed buses awaiting the staff.
Seconded. Most pitiful effort I’ve seen in a while. Couldn’t even score against a team that gave up 70 to WMU, 60 to CMU, 50 to NIU? If we lost 38-0 to Notre Dame, sure I get it. But we looked absolutely lost against the worst team possible.

In the basketball thread do not refer to the team from Portage County by their "given" name. You have many other options including (or make up your own):
PCCC (Portage County Community College)
Ravenna State
Streetsboro Junior College
Portage County School of Fashion and Design
PCCC @ Garrettsville
Brimfield Tech
PCCC's basketball coach "The Dean of the Mac" is known as "Pinky." And we are all very happy they keep renewing his contract.
Just saw this haha, I was wondering what PCCC meant! Thanks for the greetings everyone! GO ZIPS

Do you really think a new AD’s 1st hire for a D1 football program is going to be a high school football coach. I would think that is career suicide
Especially a high school coach with no D1 coaching experience
Absolutely not, I just found it amusing the Beacon Journal would mention a high school coach when BGSU is still digging themselves out of a grave with what they did haha.

I can’t believe people really think Coach T is a viable option
Bowling Green hired a high school coach Mike Jinks. They went from best to worst in the MAC in literally a season

I don't want the following...
1. Recruiting Coordinator for a school that recruits itself
2. Non-DI college coach
3. Anyone Peyton Manning endorses
I want to be a stepping stone for the next coach, because right now we are hardly that. Coaches leaving Akron are going to lateral schools/positions because of their lack of success at Akron. I want to be paying attention to a P5 school in 5 years because our coach was hired AWAY from Akron after having head-turning success here. If I'm Guthrie, that's my pitch.
Come to Akron, give us 3-4 years of high-level G5 success, and go collect a massive payday from a P5 school. Help me, help you, help me, help you.
That’s a start. You have to build the culture up at some point. I have to admit, Sean Lewis is doing that decently at Kent State. I could see him moving on to a P5 school here shortly.

Might’ve already been said before, but I think we let Arth go too quickly. Let’s look at the variables in place.
First year - 0 wins
Second year - 1 win
Third year - 2 so far, probably could be around 3 maybe 4
Do we have the money to buyout a coach and look for someone else like this? Genuine question. Most Akron fans, let’s be honest, know not to get our hopes up for football every year. I think if Arth would’ve gotten 3-4 wins the next couple years, then yes, maybe look for a new coach.
I get the move though, I’m happy about it in a sense that the Univ. feels we need to obviously do better.
As far as head coaches go, I think Saban still has family in Ohio

Yeah, that was the biggest takeaway from MTSU and WKU joining MAC.
The good - we can now find a way to get into the big dance in hoops without depending on winning the tournament with 14 teams now, and those two programs are solid.
The bad - No men’s soccer, either of them. MAC has to start prioritizing it, as men’s soccer is probably the only shot of bringing home natty’s for the conference.

Hey everyone!
New member here…
I’m glad I found this forum, I’m a UA alum 2021, and back the Zips first and foremost. I actually played club lacrosse here as well.
Go Zips!

Game 4 - @ Indiana
in Akron Zips Football

I can see Ohio and Miami being losses, and potentially CMU with it being on the road.
With that said, PCCC and Buffalo are not as good as Akron overall and we should win those.
Additionally, NIU seems to made no improvements from last year, and we seem to be Bowling Green's boogey team for their coach Scott Loeffler. BG got drilled by Ohio, and with my dad being a BGSU alum, he's not very confident for the team.
EMU could go either way, depends on which Akron team shows up.
Overall I think at least 4-4. Buffalo, Kent, BG, NIU I see us winning. CMU and EMU are toss ups, OU and Miami are likely losses.
If we can snag a bowl game this year, that would be a severe morale boost from the nightmares we've seen the past few seasons.
