Random thoughts from the pillow fight that I watched last night:
- Finley‘s interception in the end zone was atrocious. Those are the type of decisions that lose games.
- overall, I was happy to see that it was a relatively smart game for Akron. Not that many stupid penalties, personal files, etc..- obviously, the defense played well. More specifically, I thought they tackled really well.
- as usual, I think we abandoned the run game too quickly, especially as inaccurate as Finley was last night
- I don’t understand why we don’t run more two tight end sets. Especially, since we have some tight ends that have proven they can catch the ball
- glad to see we are rotating punters, smart move because at this rate, their feet will get very sore -
Where are the $2 Bud Lights??

Gotta say, this place is poppin- way longer lines than usual this far before the game. Hope it translates into a big crowd.

A win would obviously be great but more importantly, they absolutely have to play well and look like an organized, disciplined football team. If this team comes out and has multiple turnovers, stupid penalties, metal errors, and bad decisions I will lose faith in Coach JoeMo.
The portal has obviously hurt this team and to some extent, Joe can’t control the talent level on this team, but they can play smart, disciplined football and improve their odds of winning. A sloppy loss tomorrow will be a very bad indicator of where this team is headed.

Wyoming has played a number of MAC teams over the past 20 years. The games have mostly been competitive and a few real nail biters. Personally I will have been to three Wyoming vs MAC teams when we get to Akron. I went to Wyoming at Ohio, Wyoming at Toledo, and now at Akron.
Hopefully it’s good game. In my opinion, Akron easily has the best stadium in the MAC. Just wish there were more asses in the seats! What is Wyoming’s typical home attendance?

Wyoming’s depth chart is out. I tried posting above, but was having tech issues. There are few surprises compared to what was expected heading into fall camp, though for the most part it looks about as anticipated.
Has Akron released their depth chart?
-
Wyoming has a new QB and a good offensive line. Seems to me that this game will be won or lost based on how good Wyoming runs the ball. If they are getting a good push and controlling the clock I think they win. If the Zips can stop the run, force a new qb into some 3rd and longs then it favors the Zips.
-
Cat daddy- So now that we are a week away from the start of the season do you see any changes to this projected depth chart?
-
Great way to drown our sorrows! A game will be cheaper than going to a bar so students might as well come to the game

With how bad Akron is financially it wouldn't surprise me if they voluntarily allowed him to leave in a cost savings move.
I heard that he has already been replaced. Not sure by who.

Something about this just doesn’t add up - must be more to this story. Maybe he just waited too long and this was the only offer still on the table? There is no way that he chooses Akron over some of those other schools. I’m guessing that it was Buffalo, Akron, Tulsa, and Sacramento State as the only valid offers left and he chose Akron.

I'll add one more note regarding Akron and NIL -
A goal of the Zips between now and December is to reach $1,000,000 in NIL money. This would be spent to keep the best players in the fold and stem the "talent drain" we witness every season.
I don't know how they'll get there considering where our NIL balance sheet stands today. Time will tell.
I don’t know how in the hell they could get to $1 million in NIL unless Kaulig dumps it all into the pot. I say this half jokingly, but it really is pathetic, maybe they could offer food as an NIL as an incentive of to keep some kids.?

Bump, since the event is this evening. I'll be there. Worth $20 to hear Joe, and see what the new AD is all about.
Please give a full report! Hope they have a Q&A and some people ask some tough questions about the direction of the program

Nice write-up, I enjoy these.
Wyoming by about as much as they want probably, but I enjoy the write-ups.
As much as they want? You must be really impressed with this Wyoming team?

Yet the football team is the only one bringing in any revenue. Didn’t they bring in close to 4 million last year by playing Rutgers, SC, and Ohio State? Where is the athletic budget without that cashflow? Yet the football program has no training table, no money to recruit, etc etc. Appears to be a sinking ship
