Akron needs a HC that needs Akron as much as we need them. A D1 gig that will serve as a stepping stone something bigger. Someone young, hungry, willing to truly accept what the situation is and work tirelessly to somehow overcome it.
Joe Moorhead isn't that. He knows if/when this doesn't work out, he'll have a soft landing with a coordinator gig. That isn't to say he isn't and hasn't worked hard, I'm sure he has. But he's just not what Akron needs at this point in time IMO.

Zips football has taught me to be careful what you wish for. It can, and usually does, get worse.
Unless we can come up with an absolute slam dunk of a coach I don't think it's going to make a difference.
We may win 1-2 games and are ineligible for a bowl game in Year 4 of him as coach. I'm willing to chance it.

Moorhead is a bust. Time to try again.

Is Johnson not available? 3rd and goal and we run Finley up the gut?
Didn't look like that was the play - Finley wasn't expecting the snap, then had to improvise.

Chance to score a TD and another mental mistake.

Unbelievably stupid and undisciplined

I've been researching the roster limits and I believe the players who were walk-ons are grandfathered in - so Groce and Halligan wouldn't count toward the 15 player limit. They apparently did this so existing walk-ons weren't forced out of programs.

#1 team in the country and defending champs in our state should be untouched.
They are the Golden Standard
Doesn't mean we can't hate on them for scheduling Lorain County Community College when they do

Hilarious when folks crap on how Ohio State moves when our own team ain't worth the price of a Jersey Mikes Giant Sub to watch in person and on tv
Why not both?

Best of luck to the folks who have to try to sell tickets to this garbage.

I wish I cared more about this game and the program in general. Some of that is how incredibly mismanaged this program has been, pretty much since Bowden left. Part of that is what college football has become, with the gap widening every year between the major and mid-major programs. Part of that is knowing that even if we do have a good season, we can't go to the MAC Championship or to a bowl games. I used to go to every home game, and now I may go to 1 or 2. And what really sucks is that I know I'm not alone.
I love Zips athletics with all of my heart, but I'm more invested in soccer now and looking ahead to basketball. Kudos to those who still go to games and support the program, I hope the program doesn't take you for granted.

Go to Swensons at least once

I believe someone had previously mentioned the possibility of Connor playing elsewhere before he announced he was returning. Maybe he got an opportunity to play somewhere else?

Akron just got a commitment for the 2025 class from a 6'8" Serb. Is someone departing that we aren't aware of?
If he's eligible this year - and I believe he is - I think someone has to go.

Enrique is now off to Minnesota after the Pacers pulled back his two-way offer.
I wonder if they play to play him as a post or a wing. I seem to remember Indiana saying they wanted him to be a wing, but then he never played much there. Minnesota is already fairly deep down low:
Naz Reid
Julius Randle
Leonard Miller
Jesse Edwards
Joan Berringer
Rocco Zikarsky

I believe so. He was standing 50 feet away talking into a microphone as it was spreading around the room so I suspect it is pretty solid.
Awesome, thanks for sharing!

The alumni game was fun. LCJ, Cheese, Banks, Dawson, Sayles, Tribble, Thornton, Hunter, Diggs and Gray played. Enrique was there but didn't play.
Two pieces of news from the event: Enrique has been signed by Minnesota (I believe on a 2-way); and Groce was in Europe recruiting.
Minnesota is a good fit! Is it a done deal?
