  1. I want to thank the Zip fans for their hospitality and kindness during our game. We found parking across from the stadium on a dirt field. The Akron fans there assured us it was OK and subjected us to some friendly ribbing about the game. I apologize for not getting over to the tailgates as we were late getting to the stadium and made it to our seats as the Zips kicked off. I was amused by comments of the Zips fans about their team's performance because the Wyoming fans were saying essentially the same things about the Cowboy's performance on their board. To me, it was a contest between two closely matched teams and the Pokes were lucky to pull it out. Eliminate the one interception, make the missed field goal and a couple more made plays and Akron would have won. So thanks again for your hospitality and here's hoping the Zipx win the rest of their games.
  2. Usually around 20,000 give or take a couple of thousand either way. When Wyoming hosted Texas and Nebraska a few years back they added 10,00 temporary seats to handle the Longhorn and Cornhusker faithful. War Memorial Stadium's capacity has been reduced to 25,000 something, down from 29,000 with the recent renovations. "The War", as we call it, had a peak of 32,000 seats 20 years ago or so, but the number has steadily been reduced with each renovation. Given that the State of Wyoming's population is listed at 576,851 according to the 2020 Census, I think they've right sized the War. UW is the only 4-year institution of higher education in the state so it's facilities are top notch because they don''t have to compete with another state sponsored university. The latest renovations to the "War"

  5. Wyoming has played a number of MAC teams over the past 20 years. The games have mostly been competitive and a few real nail biters. Personally I will have been to three Wyoming vs MAC teams when we get to Akron. I went to Wyoming at Ohio, Wyoming at Toledo, and now at Akron.

  8. Thanks for all the recommendations! We'll see how it goes. If all goes well we'll be in the area around 2 p.m., check into our hotel and make our way to the stadium area. Looking forward to checking out your tailgating scene and meeting some Zips before the game.
  9. Thanks for the reccomendations.
  10. Checked with my friend, we've got rooms at the Embassy Suites near the Akron airport.
  11. Just for fun I had College Football '26 run Wyoming at Akron on automatic play and the game had the Cowboys winning 16-13 in overtime. I think the real game could be that close. Should be interesting.
  12. Let me ask my friend where we're staying.
  13. Over the years Wyoming has had several games with MAC teams. As I recall the Cowboys have played Ohio, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Toledo, Bowling Green, I think Western Michigan, Kent State, Northern Illinois, and I think, Ball State. Generally the games have been competitive. I've always thought that Wyoming would be a good fit with the MAC.
  14. As a Wyoming fan I have no clue what the Cowboy may do against Akron. Last year's team did very poorly on offense which is the main problem. Last year's starting QB is now a tight end and the back up will be the starter this year. They lost a couple of key players to the Portal including their featured running back. There's been a ton of players come in through the Portal, some of which are projected starters. This team is a big mystery. We won't know until they play.
  15. Thanks for the invite. We'll try and stop by and say "howdy" . Just look for a couple of old farts in brown and gold. 🤠
