  1. If the team will be there (think about how tough this is going to be for them) - then we can be there. We (in our household) are doing everything we can to spread the word - that is all we can do - that and make sure people understand this is about more than some free pizza and autographs. There has been a lot of talk about Coach leaving Akron because he might be disgusted with the Mac. But don't forget that another goal that KD and Dru and Romeo had was to make UA basketball an event - with great turnout. If they didn't get the message that they accomplished that goal by our showing at the Q - then we can make sure they get the message now on Monday by packing the JAR.
  2. ... or what it almost was - THE Ohio A&M College "John R. Buchtel was instrumental in selecting the site for the A&M school ... and also led the fight to make the curriculum broad and inclusive rather than restricted to the agricultural and mechanical fields." (paraphrased from p.23 of "Summit's Glory" by George Knepper)Bummer #1 - if our founder hadn't been so influential down south, we might have been watching 16-seed THE Ohio A&M College playing 16-seed Florida A&M University tonight in the NCAA play-in game for the right to play #1 Kansas. Bummer #2 - I'd take a play-in game right now!
  3. While the protests and making our voices heard is a must for this injustice - I also feel cheated out of the chance to celebrate the wonderful ride the 2006-2007 Zips took us on this year. Not only the way the Miami game ended - but then who would have thought we wouldn't have the chance to root for them at least one more time at the NCAA or NIT!! I was at a loss for what to do - leave it to my 12 year-old son to come up with a great solution. His idea is to have one more game at the JAR - ZIPS vs. The AK-Rowdies. Not only would it give us the chance to give Dru and Romeo a proper send off -but you could charge a minimal admission fee as a fund-raiser for the Rowdies. That would help that great organization get stronger for next year. What do you think?
  4. Along with protesting and making our voices heard about this outrage - I also feel cheated out of celebrating a great season with 2006-2007 Zips basketball team. The way the Miami game ended we were blind-sided by that ending and who would of thought we would never get to root for our Zips again. I have been trying to think of a proper conclusion to this season that helps us celebrate the great ride this team brought us on this year and couldn't think of anything. Leave it to my 12 year-old son, Kyle, to come up with a great suggestion. His idea is to have a final game at the JAR - ZIPS vs. the AK-Rowdies. It would give us a chance to cheer for the Dru and Romeo one last time even if it would be a light-hearted competition. It could also be used as a fund-raiser for the Rowdies - charge a few bucks to get in - to help make that organization even stronger next year. What do you think???
