On another site I asked a question to someone that is very knowledgeable about college coaches. I asked his thoughts on TB. His response was that TB inherited a disaster and took Akron from terrible to average, but that he didn't believe that TB could take them from average to good. I think this is very true.

Is Akron a better job than YSU? Can Akron pay significantly more than YSU to convince Pelini to leave home?

There are a lot of people able, but refusing, to work that are counting on that money. Of course the welfare checks went. Certain politicians have to appease their voting base. Saying what you are saying about the military and CIA, etc how do you know this? Is is there some news outlet that has planned ops listed that were canceled over cost?

Reading the game thread yesterday I was amazed how some posters were implying it's ok for UA to lose as long as they aren't favored to win. I guess those Ianello seasons were successes at 1-11 as last as Akron was expected to lose every game. i wonder if the reasons we are favored to lose is because of the coaching staff. Novel idea, I know. I give any coaching staff at least 2 years to become winners. It takes time to get "your players" on the team. After 6 years, 100% is on the staff. If the talent isn't there, whose fault is that? It's the coach that recruited and developed that talent. Lack of facilities and a garbage off campus stadium haven't been excuses for a long time now. Sooner or later people need to wake up to the real issue.

Make it a real hammer and then this game is better.

Lane Kiffen. Good grief what a disaster as a HC. I wonder how many more chances he gets. Remember, I also said lower division HC. Maybe we can get Pelini. Not sure how well he would do but he would be entertaining seeing him act like an idiot every game.

Not in all cases. Some want to be a HC to start moving up the ranks. Granted if we got that type, he wouldn't last long if he was successful, but perhaps having some success would make it much easier to replace him when that time comes.

I think we need to stay away from position coaches and either get a major school coordinator or a lower lever winning head coach. Winning is winning.

Not trying to be a smart a$$, and I never challenge worse, but how can recruiting get "precarious"? UA recruiting is terrible.

I don't feel that Woodson is our biggest issue. He is fine with some talent with him. His OL sucks, his receivers are below average and there is no running game. He is not the problem. The coaching staff and talent around him is the problem.

Kiffin failed at multiple stops. He was then oc at Bama. He then took another job at a mid major in an attempt to work his way back up. Kelley was a success in college and then went to the NFL. He will have his choice of many jobs next year that are all better than Akron.

Exactly. Guys get excited because Akron is getting local recruits. Big effing deal. I don't care where they are from if they can play. As i always say, half the verbals never make it to campus. TB takes risks on guys that can't get the grades. Very few have offers from other programs unless they are bottom feeders like Akron. Recruiting rankings don't mean everything but anyone that thinks they mean nothing has no idea what they are talking about.

As long as it wasn't PBR or Little Kings you are good.
