Actually, Buffalo would not be a bad road trip from Akron, especially this time of year. Only a 4 hour drive. Nice weather. The leaves are starting to change.
First of all, you can catch a soccer game between #2 Akron and #20 Buffalo Friday night at the football stadium. See who has the best foreigners on their team.
Should be a good game on Saturday. Buffalo may finally have an offense- they moved the ball against Rutgers, even though they didn't score, and and woke up in the second half against WMU. It would still be an upset, but Buffalo could do it at home. (They're good for a win or two a year.)
Wings at Duffs or the Anchor Bar, plenty of action on Chipawa Street downtown, the Canadian Ballet across the river. Even a side trip to Niagara Falls while avoiding the summer crowds.
Actually, there's no reason to even buy tickets in advance. Plenty of seats still available - (hint- the stands are a long way from the field due to a track. The best seats for the game are in either upper deck).
