The worst part about it was that the guy was only jogging a warm-up at the track. They had not yet even started practice.

We suck. Forget everything I have ever said on this board. I am not joking. This is pathetic. -

Why are you jumping to conclusions? If zipsbandman cares to any degree at all about tradition, it is possible to care less. If ZPM does not care at all (Zero), than it is impossible to care less. There is no caring less then Zero, it is impossible to care less than that amount. Let me put it to you in terms you can probably relate: Toledo Rockets couldn't have less sex. This means that you don't have any sex and therefore can not have less sex than not having sex at all. For the Zips fan: We could have less sex because We are getting laid all the time and therefore have some action to spare. You bore me with you subpar intellect. That Crackron education is really paying off for you. Your reasoning skills are one notch above 5th grade. Go back to your trailor park! You guys crack me up on this board. 10 months ago you are spouting off about sold out stadiums, Big East, national rankings, etc.. I told you not to put the cart before the horse and to be realistic. Now, you guys are seeing that it takes much more than one 7-6 season to build something. Can't wait for you guys to come to the Glass Bowl!Toledo 36CrAkron 14End of season records:Toledo 11-3CrAkron 4-8Average Attendance:Toledo 22,435CrAkron 14,781 -
NC State Beats another ranked team

Tradition is relative. Obviously, there are a lot of schools with tradition that do not draw 110k a game. In the MAC, Toledo has a tradition of success. In the Big-10 or nation, OSU has a tradition of success. In Division III, Mt. Union has a tradition of success. To compare everyone to the n'th degree is not realistic. And, not to split hairs, but it is, "...couldn't care less", not, "...could care less." -

Maybe learning to use the apostrophe would enable you to write something I can actually understand. And, yes, you very well might be I-aa again soon. -

With 12 games this year, there will be plenty of teams that make it. Akron is not going bowling even if they win out. The only teams going bowling this year from the MAC are the division champs and maybe NIU or WMU, which ever one does not win the West. One thing they are going to look at is your average home attendance is going to be barely 15,000 and that is not attractive, especially when you get outdrawn by Can't and Youngstown.I said this a year ago...you guys are a flush in the pan. We are not really playing well right now, but one bad season does not ruin tradition....and one good season does not make one. -
I hate to burst your bubble, but the 2005 Akron team lost to Miami and Army. They also beat a BG team with an inexperienced QB. The whole thing sounds very familiar.I hate to say it, but the MAC Championship Game could very well be Can't State vs. Western Michigan which will draw about 10,000 fans total.

Is the MAC tougher than most think?
ToledoRockets replied to Ryno aka Menace's topic in Akron Zips Football
I was at the game and Toledo controlled the game. This game could have easily been 23-10 Toledo. The Rockets blocked a punt in the 4th quarter and were whistled for a "phantom" 12th man on the field and instead of getting the ball on the ISU 16 yard line, ISU got the ball on Toledo's 30 and scored. Then, two series later, the Rockets had a clear interception, clear as day, even the replay on the jumbotron showed a clear interception and it was ruled an incomplete pass and they scored a couple plays later.Toledo was straight-up better than Iowa State. Even the Iowa State fans sitting around us were commenting on how much bigger and faster we were than they imagined. From what I hear, CMU could have beaten BC but the CMU coach is clearly an idiot and was wayyyy outcoached. -
I hate to say I told you so....but I told you so.

The University, beginning on July 1, 2006, will be the first MAC school to have their own Medical School. Toledo is now one of only 17 institutions in the country that has their own Law School, Medical School, Engineering School and Pharmacy School.
-
Dude,You guys have "progressed" to what? 13-11? Yeah, the MAC will be cakewalk with that type of of improvement! WooHoo!
-
Syracuse announced yesterday that they have filled their 2006 schedule with Wyoming (Home and Home).
-
It also appears that your tainted MAC Championship in football doesn't mean too much since you got zero votes in the national poll and Toledo ended the season ranked #26.
-
I know what it was like because you dorks posted a picture of the conditions. It was cold, snowing and windy. Yes, that is adverse. It is a "blizzard"? No. That is a gross exaggeration. And, I am STILL waiting for your brilliant excuses for the 7,600 people you drew for the Ohio Game!
-
Like I said before, the only people calling it a blizzard are the people on this board trying to make excuses as to why you can only draw 7,000 fans. If any of you have ever been in a real blizzard, you would know that they game would not have happened. It was cold and snowing, but it was no blizzard. In addition, like I said before, when you guys were ikn a must-win situation against Ohio at home, you only had 7,500 fans. That is pathetic! Not only that, but there is no a person in the real World that believes that Akron was better than Toledo this past fall. That is why we finished #26 in the polls and you guys did not earn a single point.Adding to our dominance over your sorry school, we whipped you boys last night as well.Enjoy your continued mediocrity!
-
Sucks? Bottom of the MAC? What kind of math do they teach you in the hood? 7th seed in a 12 team conference sounds like the middle to me. Enjoy watching us on national TV tonight while you guys are at home.
-
You guys act like Toledo basketball is the bottom of the MAC. We may not have won the title since 1980, but the only team to have more wins than Toledo over the last seven years is Can't State. But, then again, you guys have no idea about history and traditions around the MAC since you are consistently looking up from the bottom!
-
boo hoo..."blizzard". It was no frickin' "blizzard". Nobody in the World, no TV station or newspaper or anything called it a "blizzard".You guys averaged a PATHETIC 10,500 fans a game for your football team!Well, I'll even give you that it was cold and snowy...but what is your excuse for the Ohio game where you had a high school crowd of 7,600 (also about what Toledo vs. BG basketball had)? Worst part about that game was that you guys were in a must-win situation and you STILL could not muster up a high school crowd. So, in addition to telling me one sport that you guys outdraw Toledo in, please give me your lame excuse for the Ohio game!
-
Hate to burst your bubble, but Toledo not only is a top-2 in the league in football attendance, we are also in basketball. You see, we actually have a fan base, unlike your pathetic programs. The Toledo vs. BG basketball game OUTDREW the Crackron vs. Can't football game!Enjoy your tainted MAC Championship football trophy as it will be another 50 years before you win another one. And, to boot, you have another year to add to your 20-years of frustrations on basketball as well. You must be completely ignorant if you really don't know that Toledo outdraws Akron in EVERYTHING! Name one sport you guys outdraw Toledo?
-
You lost to a superior team and a superior school!Have fun on Spring Break at home! Losers!
-
Sound familiar???
-
You guys will be eating a lot of crow in the fall when you average 12,000 fans a game and have a 6-6 season.Your best shot at national TV? Playing at Toledo. It will be on National TV, but it won't be because of the Zips! That will be about our 32nd National TV appearance in the last five years and Akron's 4th EVER!Enjoy your mediocrity!

Zips Battle USC for Punter
ToledoRockets replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
01-05 at Toledo: 44 wins, 2 MAC titles, 1 MAC Runner-up, 3 Bowl Games, 20 National TV Appearances, 21,500 fans per game.01-05 at Akron: 28 wins, 1 MAC title, 1 Bowl Game, 4 National TV Apearances, 12,000 fans per game.No comparison. And forget about the recruiting class rankings as two publications have you at the bottom half of the MAC. In addition, the only thing that matters is wins and losses so let's see where this "great" class of your is in four years! My guess is averaging 7 wins a year. Hey, maybe you guys will be in a position one day to talk about 35 wins in five years!!!!!! wooohoooo! -

My mistake. The funniest part of all this is that you actually are arguing about 28 or 27 wins in a FIVE YEAR period, as if it is some great accomplishment! Like I said, unfortunately for you guys, that IS ALL YOU HAVE TO POINT towards. Oh how sad it would be to be sitting here trying to figure out if 26 wins in 5 years is, or is not, our best five years ever! I mean, seriously, 30-wins in 5 years is only averaging 6 wins a year and you can't find 5 consecutive years where you won 30 frickin games!Oh to celebrate mediocrity! -

unfortunately for you guys, those 26 wins in five years is the best five years of your program in I-A!
