Three out of four years to the College Cup. I'd have given that a zero chance after Porter left. Hats off to Embick and the entire team. Maryland and Indiana in one semifinal and the Zips get the winner of Michigan State-JMU tomorrow. I like the chances for a second star!!

Where's stat man? Akron record vs. big 10?

My Chromecast seems to have more problems handling the ESPN+ stream than it did running ESPN3, for some reason.  Other than that, I'm ok.

I'll probably cancel after basketball season though, I don't see myself using it outside of August through March.

Exactly my plan. August (soccer) through March (bball) and cancel. Have to agree with others who like the content. It's a $5 sports ticket I can use multiple times a month. Figured ESPN would eventually try to monetize all of their ESPN-ready content. Too bad Reghi does so many of our game ... just excruciating.

  5. My focus up to this point has been on the WF player who 'passed' the ball to the teammate who 'scored' the goal. I thought it was very questionable as to whether the passer was offside when the initial pass into the box was made to him. I didn't know the deflection rule and also didn't see that Lundt actually deflected the ball. Looks a little more obvious to me in freeze frame that the WF player closest to the goal was indeed offside and most if not all of the Akron players felt that he was offside as well (lots of arms raised in the air). Thanks Hilltopper! Makes our defeat of #1 Wake Forest all the sweeter.

Looking forward to and expecting a much better match against the Trees than we saw last year. Go Zips!

  6. 1st series, 3rd-and-1 and Edwards never stood a chance on the hand-off. Ohio correctly hedged their bets on 'same old, same old.'

OU - hot knife thru butter on their first series. Wow. May be heading out with headphones to get more yard work done than I anticipated.

If we shoot like this in the first half of these past 2 games, we're playing in the finals tonight.

We had a lot of 'if-onlys' in the past but I'm a whole lot more optimistic with our current group of coaches and players. Excellent tournament and experience for coaches, players, fans and family. Good prep for the remainder of the non-conf games, the MAC and March. Decent first half today even if it is against a depleted St. B.

  8. Moving on, the Bonnies from St. Bonaventure are up next for the Zips. Smooth sailing again today at work - 3rd day in a row with an 11a-1p meeting. Dual-screen multitasking with Frenchy and Dunn on in the background (and way behind live action).

    Courtesy of GoZips.com -

"The Akron-St. Bonaventure Series - Akron and St. Bonaventure have one time in series history, and Wednesday's game will be the first time the two teams shared the court since the 1942-43 season. The Zips won the lone meeting 39-36 at St. Bonaventure. However, Groce faced the A10 squad when coaching at Ohio, falling 112-107 in four overtime periods in 2010-11."

NO way we shoot that poorly again today ;-). I'm calling it for the Zips, 78-67. :thumb:

    Coach Bobby Muuss:

"Akron has been to two of the last three College Cups. It's going to be a great college soccer match," Muuss added. "For a college soccer fan and for a soccer purist, these are two teams that like to play. We played them my first season and it was one of the best games I've been involved in since I've been here."

Not sure how Embick feels about Wake but I'd love to play them every year. Our people need to get with their people and get it done. Loved the Wake/UNC swing we did a number of years ago.

If it is it takes too long to clear. I don't have this problem with any of the other sports feeds.

Sorry ewbrooman ... lame joke on my part i.e. harvesting personal data without your knowledge.
