Yeah, and it's highly likely that we're also the largest American city with a D-1 university where the local newspaper provides next to zero coverage of that D-1 university.Akron is the largest American city without a TV market.
The way that rag is going, it too will be riding off into the sunset and the Plain Dealer will simply add an "Akron-area news" section to its paper. We and the rest of the MAC get better coverage from Elton Alexander anyway ...

As of 2:25PM this afternoon, Zippy's lead has shrunk to 185. Not sure if she'll even finish the day still ahead of the orange blob from Syracuse. Continue to vote and pass the word.

Hokiebird has gone on quite a run today and has overtaken Cavman. That match-up is probably a double-whammy for Zippy since Zippy has beaten both mascots, those two schools are bitter rivals and voters from both are probably voting against Zippy as they vote for their own mascot. We've been struggling to stay in the plus-200-to-250 range so far today. Keep throwing coal on the fire Zippy fans!

Hey Bleacher, see what you can do to get another good mention on Channel 3 Monday morning. Channel 3 exposure coupled with the ABJ article this past Monday REALLY seemed to generate a strong final push that blew away Hokiebird. Regular Monday morning pub to end each round may be needed to keep Zippy on top.I agree, we're probably getting ganged-up on right now and need to be even more vigilant about stirring up votes.

Just coincidental, I'm sure ... slow sports night and it just happened to work out this time around.
Ohio A&M manages to get one shot on goal and it happens to go in. Otherwise, Akron gets a 1-0 win. Bummer. Good match between two evenly-matched teams (at least from what I could tell). -
I just spoke with a manager at the Winking Lizard in Fairlawn. They do have ESPN GamePlan and will have the Akron/UConn game available Saturday at noon.

Has anyone seen Antonio Gates lately??? I'm beginning to worry about him ... well, not really. I guess 3-0 in basketball and loss of the wagon wheel has left him lurking at best. Surprised he didn't chime in on the Flush ladies winning in volleyball last week.

Holy cow ... Zippy on steroids? He hasn't slowed down a bit from his surge this morning to take round 2. He's garnered the most votes so far in round 3 of all of the mascots and has built a 349-vote lead over the orange blob. I wonder when the other schools are going to start ganging up to pump up the 'Cuse?

The bummer is it looked to me like Can't was prepared to spike the ball on 3rd down to get the clock stopped. That would have made it 4th down and really put the pressure on Can't. Oh well, everything worked out but what a crappy time to not have the guys on the field set. Phew!

I don't think I'm going to e-mail the crew (including Steve French) over at WNIR ... they're based on the dark side (Can't) and I'm afraid it might stir up votes AGAINST Zippy. 1h45m to go ... I e-mailed Bill Wills at WTAM at 5:45AM this morning and just sent a similar e-mail to Matt and Angela over at WKDD. Zippy was behind by about 50 votes when I sent the first e-mail and I'm just wondering if Bill gave Zippy a mention on his 5000-watt microphone. Zippy is now UP by about 170 votes but all of us need to make sure we cast our votes for Zippy before 9AM!!! Keep it up folks and let's finish strong to go 2-0 and most likely continue to hold on to the overall lead in total votes as well!
