I went to this game and stayed the entire time, including the celebration of the wagon wheel. We actually tailgated at 7:00am before the game. It was a brutal day. Even when the sun came out the wind cut right through your clothing. With the airport at the open end, the stadium was like a wind tunnel. Many people were ducking under the stands in the concession area or in the bathrooms. I don't think I have ever been that cold. You may not believe what I tell you, but if you weren't at the game you can't comment with any authority or credibility on my opinion of the weather at the game. Sorry, that's the way it is! As always and the Zips are :macc:

K-ent Off-season Football Training
UADavid replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football
If he's still eligible after his prison sentence, maybe Can't can pick up maurice clarett. -
Agreed! And then coach Dambrot says in the postgame if we're tired maybe we need to make more substitutions. WHAT!You're the coach, make the substitutions.
-
Very sound advise indeed! Bye bye rabid.

Steuby, with all due respect for you to voice your opinion, you are a bit out of your element here. I agree with you that 1AA is not the way to go, but the rest of your post concerning Akron tradition deserves ---->>> FTBR is right about the turkey day game. The tradition is a big part of Akron, and that 1-10 team was Can't st. The crowd that attended the game was truly amazing considering the weather conditions. The crowd size had more to do with the team we played and the day than the fact we were a potential bowl team, although that didn't hurt. Lest you forget, that game was scheduled on a workday at noon!!! That's right, it was supposed to be played on a wednesday at noon. How many fans do you think would have gone to that game? We had 20 people at our tailgate which started 2 hours before the game. The weather hurt the attendance, pure and simple. I hope they give it another try. :macc:

I would put the use of the fullback at an even lower percentage. I'd bet that the two back set accounted for less than 20 percent of the formations and next year may be less. We have a wide open offense that favors the pass with many 3 receiver sets. We even ran 4 receiver sets and with the addition of Harvey and Henderson to Arthur and Long, that trend will continue. This year, the TE will also get a lot more work with Kasparek and Poindexter. I wish they had used the TE's more last year. Now if you want to talk about two years ago, the fullback was a bigger part of the offense but that ship has sailed. Will we use a fullback, yes, but more in play action pass and blocking schemes. :macc:

A very good post by ftbr. This team will bounce back. Nevada was on fire last night. Go zips.
-
So you agree with me that Penn St. is in State College. Your point then is that k ent can not win at State College?
-
I agree with your assessment. You've hit it out of the park. The only flaw is that Penn St. is in State College while College Station is where Texas A&M is located.

Although I haven't seen it in print, it appears that the JAR will not be open for the Nevada game. Since the Zip Athletic website has an article on Panini's carrying the game, I assume that the JAR is no longer an option. UAM? I was planning on going to the JAR and I know others that were also planning on the JAR for the game so let's get that straight. Go zips.

Does that mean we all get Varsity A jackets now?

What a fantastic jump! If you've never seen a track meet at Akron, you're missing some great individual and team efforts. Our men and women programs are doing a great job. The women finished second at Penn St and the men tied for sixth. Keep up the good work. :macc: To the moderators, how about adding a pair of winged feet in the posts icon for the track team.

I couldn't agree more with FTBR and less with AUR. Joe Dunn does a great job interviewing with inciteful questions. While I agree everyone has their opinions and are free to post them, AUR's thoughts about Joe Dunn are without merit. People criticize for sugar coating, homerism, getting down on the team, depressing, boring,.... I say to all those that a good broadcaster is able to impart to the listeners the emotion of the game. Our guys do it well. And LILJC is right about Joe and the job he does for us. My opinion is that you would be hard pressed to find someone with his depth of knowlege to fill his shoes. We have the best play by play team around and I for one feel fortunate they're still here. Keep up the good work guys! :macc:

From the MAC Report Online. Enough said. Go Zips :macc:
-
Does anyone know if this game is being broadcast? Today's Beacon only lists radio. :macc:
-
Auburn is far removed from NE Ohio so I agree with you!
-
Well said. It's probably not his dream job, but it could be and it is his alma mater.

That's good news. We also have a great team coming back. And it's getting contagious aroud here because we are :macc:

Zips Battle USC for Punter
UADavid replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
I merely pointed out the fact that you don't know what you are talking about. We don't that, it's in the past much like your rockets. We are building on it. We are the MAC champs and you are not! We are getting better and you aren't. Your signing was ok since you picked up a zip recruit or two but ours was number one in the MAC for a second straight year. You have nothing to bring to the table, and that is the saddest and sorriest part of your posts. Come better prepared if you want to post here! :macc: :macc: :macc: -
It really is too easy. He's the kid in kindergarden that was always trying to hammer the square peg into the round hole. Keep up the good work hotpinksteve! And as always, still :macc:

Soccer Recruit Update
UADavid replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
thanks Captain. Is hotpinksteve on the board? -
You are on fire. Your wit is truly amazing. Looking forward to your next post. Keep up the good work. Your effort isn't wasted. BTW Miami still sucks and the ZIPS are :macc:
-
Not hard when you start with an IQ of 68. You are the one who offers nothing, posts incorrect information and has a hard time accepting the fact that the ZIPS are :macc: by the way, I was at the park and a male dog had a redsteve too!! He must have been excited, like you!

Hey ZIPNATION, hotpinksteve made a funny! He is definitely at the top of his game. Don't hurt yourself stevie.
