  1. I don't know what I was thinking! My game will be done by 9:00ish, so I will be there, just a bit late.
  2. Man, I was pissed when they moved the game to Friday. I am working the St.V game at 7:00 on Friday.
  3. Check out the media coverage on this game!I think if a Can't Stater had this type of coverage their head would explode!!Tuesday, February 148 p.m. ESTRhodes ArenaAkron, OhioTelevision: FOX Sports Net Ohio, Comcast Local, CSN Chicago and Adelphia 13 (N.Y.). Michael Reghi (play-by-play) and Mark Adams (color). Satellite Coordinates: Galaxy 11-Transponder 15KRadio: WARF (1350 AM) in Akron, WERE (1300 AM) in Cleveland, on the internet at GoZips.com and Sirius Satellite Radio (Ch. 143). Steve French (play-by-play) and Joe Dunn (color) (7:30 p.m. EST airtime). NY and Chicago?? For Akron vs. BG??!! Man, could that mean there is at least a regional interest in this game????!!
  4. Sorry Dr. Z, but there must be a mistake on that link. I didn't see Can't State even mentioned there! Must be a misprint judging by all the smack 'Tone and the boys have been talkin'.See Antonio, even the national media notice what we are telling you. Can't = old Akron = New. I'll take national media over Billy Livingston any day. :macc:Oh and take a look at this post in another thread 'Tone:Check out the media coverage on this game!I think if a Can't Stater had this type of coverage their head would explode!!Tuesday, February 148 p.m. ESTRhodes ArenaAkron, OhioTelevision: FOX Sports Net Ohio, Comcast Local, CSN Chicago and Adelphia 13 (N.Y.). 5. If anyone gets their sports information from the 'fish wrap' Plain Dealer, that is your first mistake!
  6. Hey Rat,Can I copy your post over to the MAC BBS?Thanks!
  7. Who's going on Tuesday? We're doing our Valentine's Day dinner and then off to the game! (What a great wife. She hates basketball, but yet we are still going!)
  8. I travel a lot and listen to several Zips games over the Internet. Frenchie does a fine job helping me visualize the action with just the right touch of 'homerism'.Don't move to FM!! Look at Can't State! Can't even hear it in Akron!!AM is much better especially at night. 1350 could use to boost their signal, but don't look for that any time soon.
  9. FINALCan't 67NIU 55 Thanks for the help NIU!
  10. 3:38 leftCan't 58NIU 45
  11. 10:35 2nd halfCan't 44NIU 37
  12. Halftime: Can't 34 NIU 24
  13. I am sure your eyes don't deceive you!
  14. Currently 5:46 left in the first half and Can't is up 20-17. They were up by much more at the seven-minute mark, but NIU mounted a bit of a comeback. By the way, I live 15 minutes from Can't and can't get 100.1FM Man, they think they have a program, but they don't even have a respectable sports network!!! I think that is one of the keys to the puzzle don't you? Does anyone know if 100.1Fm is opperated from the basement of Stewart Hall?!!
  15. I hate to quote myself, but this is from the EMU thread:"...you make a good point that I have thought about a lot this year: Steve French is always all over the officials. Now, to be fair, I am a college and high school official, but when I am at a Zips game I am a ZIPS fan. But it always seems that Frenchy is riding the officials. When I go to the games, I usually have my radio on with earphones, so I see a lot of the calls that he complains about. Now, 70% of the time no one in the gym has a better angle or distance than the referee. Another 20% of the time fans just are ignorant to the rules (for example, there is no such thing as "3-seconds" in the key. It is called a "lane violation" and it usually takes about 5-6 seconds to get one called!).So, my point is that when there really is a bad call, we don't know because most of the time Frenchy doesn't like any of the calls!!!' :blink:OK, so all that being said, agree it could be much worse as we could have Bill Needle As for the comment above about him missing calls and players' names in football: he needs to have a spotter. The spotter is going to tell him information like that to supplement his play-by-play.Also, our braodcast have production value. Have you ever listened to a Can't State game? it is all monotone voice with no music beds or any of the 'extrasa' that provide color to the broadcast. They go into and out of commercials with voice and no music most of the time. Plus, can anyone actually get 100.1 FM?? I can get 1350 AM strong.Sure there are others better than Frenchie, but he better than what most have in the area!
  16. Well put!!!
  17. Found this over on the MAC bbs in the Can't State Threads: Maybe after they lose to NIU Sunday they will resort to smoking pot during pregame. And then when Buffalo hands them a loss they will step it up to hypnosis. WTF???!!
  18. I'm not backing either, but there are constant articles pre and post-game. And it is always a special treat when Terry Pluto puts the pen to paper regarding the Zips!
  19. Hey Dumb F$$$, FOOTBALL 2005. Oh, and the reason why your attendance is slightly higher is because There is nothing else to do in BFA!!!! Now go drink yourself silly, riot and get arrested or whatever you people do down there........ :macc: :macc: :macc: :macc: :macc: :macc: :macc: :macc: :macc: :macc: :macc: :macc: :macc: :macc: :macc: :macc: :macc: :macc: :macc:
  20. Listened to the game. Man they made me nervous tonight!Mike, you make a good point that I have thought about a lot this year: Steve French is always all over the officials. Now, to be fair, I am a college and high school official, but when I am at a Zips game I am a ZIPS fan. But it always seems that Frenchy is riding the officials. 21. OK OK OK !!!!You win!! I have returned from the dark side. I see your points. For the record: I didn't want a 'mean' mascot, I guess I just don't want one running around like Bareny the dinosaur. So I agree that the 'costume' shouldn't change, but maybe the person inside could do a bit more 'action'. They are supposed to be a cheerleader. They earn the privledge to be Zippy by auditioning at cheerleading try-outs. i want to see Zippy out there jumping around, running and getting the crowd going!! Now, that may mean some minor changes to the costume to accomodate such movements, but I agree that the costume, for the most part, should remain unchanged.By the way, Hey 'InTheZOne". Love the sign......and the Can't State hat you had on.
  22. Thanks Sergeant, but that was the original site I visited. Not too clean, but it is the best I have foudn thus far.
