  1. Now that's a better board!

Yea, I'm concerned too. I'm concerned our staff got famous before they got good.

I heard it from VERY CREDIBLE INSIDE GUYS that the veteran players "almost took over" after the 4th game last year. Could be BS, I know that, but maybe not.......

    Go board!

    ILFSITF

  2. I didn't see the comments as a slam on either Charlie or the MAC..........you know the Middle American Conference ;)

He's correct...........playing at UA or any team at our level is a big jump to the NFL. I actually thought he was kind of complimentary toward S/man after reading the whole story.

But then DJ knows the Middle American Conference cause he played a game one time at home vs CMU :john:

    ILFS (and now Sundays) ITF

Hey...........who else is going Saturday night? Beware...........Injuns are at home that nite too..............

  3. Something to keep in mind..........

When Brandon and Bobby were "the guy", each lined up with the "then all time passing leaders" as QB's..........Butchie at first for Brandon and then of course Charlie. Jimmie Grey was pretty spectacular also if he could find daylite and he ran with Brandon. Bobby and Brandon split time for 2 years.........nuff said.

The big dealio however, was that by Charlies 2nd year, the entire offense shifted to throw first then rush...........this also hits Biggs...........but he really doesn't have a quality partner to share time with.

Just an FYI, for a slow board period..............

  4. Just a quickie..............

Among ALL the away games I have ever attended..............it took the longest time to get out of the stadium and out of town following the Purdue game. North and south access and egress are not as bad they say as east or west.

Just preparing you for an hour drive just to get out of town back to the east.

  5. Good Luck to all these guys chasing the dream.................but as stated waaaaaay back 2 years ago or something.............this is all just an effort to get enough bodies in the mini camp to "play ball".............

Think about it...........you've got the "investments" over in Europe playing, the next group is playing Arena.......there's even an A2 league now..............and all the vets and returning guys are "healing" thru the offseason...........so the only way the Pros can get enough guys together to play a little ball is to call everyone in, and give em 2 to 5K for beating their brains out one last time in order to see how their draft choices look up close.

Regardless, I'd still have done it if I could have too!

  6. ITZ..........

    You're probably right...........upon a closer peek, I'm seeing another number at G.

However, there were multiple protection sets depending on the play call, so JC was at various places depending on the action............but mostly backside T.

That's still one hell of a photo............where did ZR get it? I'd like to see more.

  7. Here's my 2-cent.............

I'm a 4 PSL owner, so obviously a Brown fan...........probably more "invested" than most guys on this board.............but I've been real pissed at them for the past couple years.........for many reasons which need no regurgitation here and now.

Contrary to many around here (meaning our region and not this board specifically), I don't have blind confidence in Savage and Crennel. Don't tell me about it.....do it. I'll just annie-up and keep hoping. I'm a sucker like that..............guess Bernie K made me that way. Speaking of that, C is kind of a "second coming of Bernie" is he not? ;)

Back to 5..........I was hoping Baltimore would jump him before he fell to the Browns. anywhere but here to start his career...........was what I would have preferred for my favorite player.............but it wasn't to be.

I'll bet he, his family and Willard posse are real excited. In a way, I am too. As my wife says now we can see him play almost every Sunday................I sure hope so. It's not that I don't have confidence in him to git r dun...........I just have the feeling the Browns entire organization is...........well................minor league compared to other NFL clubs.........on a par with Arizona if you know what I mean..........

Well...............congrats to 5.............congrats to his posse, and I'll be the guy in the stands with a "UA Frye 5" jersey on this fall on Sundays (I'll hold off on the Browns version for a couple years, thanks).

Now it's "ILFSITF & ILFSITF (again)" sort of "squared" my creado :D

  8. It's not tomorrow, but I am back

Lost my momentum when work interfered, but I'll try and finish off what I was attempting to say...........

Draft's a difficult thing. The reason we shouldn't get our undies in a bundle (IMHO) is because picking a QB is a special dealio.

Teams usually go with "the best player available" at the time they are on the clock most of the time. The one time operating on this theory can be voided is when QB's are involved.

Here's the deal...........do you think under any circumstances San Diego or Buffalo are going to pick a QB? Of course not. Same applies to many other clubs. Soooooo C could be sitting there for a long time before a team with the need pops up. And another thing...........keep in mind the first team with a QB need to come along may have him rated at 3, 4, or 5 on their chart..............so we could be in for a deep 2nd round or even third round situation for 5. That's why I'm laid back more than most of you over this deal. I'm luvin it, but not "enfuego" about it.

Speaking about Buffalo...............that would be the perfect kind of situation for C to hook in to. I love how the Bills back burnered JP Losman last season so he could learn. Now they pick up Kelly H to take the summer pressure off Losman and have him ready to step up in the season.............that's what I'd like to see for 5. The environment at the Pack looks good. The Browns would be a bad situation for him to enter in to at the start of his career. Good as Bennie did in Pitt last season, let's see how he does this time around before we annoint him the next coming of Joe Montana or John Elway.............neither of which he is in my opinion because of his lack of "athleticism" ;) gawd I hate that term.

Anyway...............nuff rambling.............that's what I was trying to say...............

Missed the action yesterday, darn it, but did catch the radio.

"One more spring"................what the hail was that? I'll bet Jerry F and LO said exactly the same thing in their second spring practices  That was pretty weak IMHO. What the heck did the seniors think (the few of them that remain) when they heard that on?

War UAM..........still the MAN..............is was and will always be the best.............

  9. Some final thoughts before “D†Day, the 23rd...

I’ve followed this draft closer than ever before. Maybe spent too much time chasing it down over the past few months………

I’m geeked like the rest of you sluggies, but probably less “excitedâ€. I’ll explain.

IMHO, the NFL over the past 10 years has turned into one big profitable business, controlled by a possee of basically unimpressive cigar chewing guys who meet and make policy behind closed doors with their financial interests being the principle driving force.

They’ve got us fooled into being “loyal†to our “hometown†or “favorite†teams…but they really don’t care about the fans…or a “townâ€â€¦ Hey, I’m not upset about this, it’s just the way the game works. I love to watch the warriors go out on Sunday and do individual athletic, and team athletic things I can only dream of. So I’m one of their lackies too.

Back to Superman…………..the players are just cannon fodder for the business. They're kind of like “cattle†to these guys. No more, no less. Think about what’s happened in Bernie Kosar’s life………….nuff said?

I’m happy for 5. He’ll go day one, and that’s really all I care about. Then I can do something constructive with Sunday! I don’t care if he goes 3 or 4 or 5……………so what? We all know he “plays great from behindâ€â€¦â€¦.it will fire him up. He’ll get a nice signing bonus……….his wonderful, conservative parents will carefully bank and monitor it for him so he can concentrate on ball………….and he’ll end up in September as somebodys #3 behind two veterans. Then I’ll have 2 pro teams to be a sucker for……………..however (and I highly recommend you hang with me on this one), I am not going out and buying a Frye jersey with the first team he signs with. It would be a waste of money. He’ll play, but he probably will move 2 or 3 times before he hooks up with the correct system and becomes the star we all know he will ultimately be. I still won’t buy that jersey either………….the only one I’ll hang in my closet is a UA Frye rag.

    Oops………….got to go……………more tomorrow.

  10. You guys watch those games yesterday?

Unbelievable action. Had me jumping out of my seat.............from here, glad U of I got over, but bummed about the breakdown WV had..........and how about the 3's in the first game...............man oh man..........

Can'w wait for 2PM today for more of that.....
