  1. Guess I should have watched my TIVO first. I fast forwarded to the play and it's very clear Nicely was down in the end zone. Should have been a safety. I'm not sure why he shot putted the ball forward...maybe he thought the play was over...but he had possession and he was down. The officials definitely should have reviewed that play.
  2. Not sure this will help too much, but here's a clip of the play from the end zone: http://vmedia.rivals.com/uploads/1182%5C1003845.wmv I haven't seen the play from the other angle, but I think it comes down to one of two situations: 1. Nicely gets stripped and pounces on the loose ball. Apparently he doesn't gain possession as Akron No. 71 reaches down for the ball, at which time two Can't State players dive in as well. From there, it's a scrum and Can't State No. 30 ends up with the ball. OR 2. Nicely gets stripped then gains control of the ball and should have been called down. Akron No. 71 took the ball away from him, but could not control it. The two Can't State players knocked it free and Can't State No. 30 comes up with it. Either way, I think the officials should have reviewed the play, especially considering the magnitude of the situation. Personally, I think situation No. 1 above is probably closer to the truth, although it's hard to tell if Nicely does get possession. It "looks" like he does, but it's just odd that No. 71 would reach down and pick it up out of his hands. Not only that, but it doesn't look like Nicely's arms get tugged as if another player was pulling the ball out of his hands. Again, I haven't seen a replay from the front, so it's hard to tell.
  3. I echo what Captain Kangaroo wrote. As publisher of OhioVarsity.com, I had the chance to work with Reno a couple of times. Rivals.com hosted a couple of junior day events at the university and Reno was as helpful as anybody I've worked with.He was a wealth of knowledge and I enjoyed talking with him.I hope this turns out to be a misunderstanding...he's a good man.
  4. Here's Gary:
  5. Watching Gary play was fun...he is so explosive and can do so many things. If that kid was three inches taller, the "big boys" would have been all over him. Akron's getting a good one.
  6. I have talked with Aeric. He was at our junior day in February, held at Akron and then I saw him again at Akron's camp. The kid can definitely fly.He worked out with the wide receivers, and his inexperience showed. I'll be interested to see how things work out for him this year. He's got the one thing you can't coach...and that's the speed. If he can become a runner instead of a sprinter, or he can develop the pass catching skills necessary..he'll be a real sleeper for someone.

  9. Well, the Zips did pick up a qb today...but I don't think he'll be lining up behind center in an Akron uniform.Wide receiver, running back, defensive back? Most likely...qb...not likely.Great pick up just the same.
  10. Here's a shot of Jerome Royal from the Elite Camp at Cleveland Browns Stadium earlier this spring.
  11. Sweet picture of Hill!Vincent said he's thinking about committing to Akron. The Zips are on top right now but his father wants to see the facilities and talk with the coaches.Colorado is out of the picture and his other offers are Temple, UCONN and Can't. He's going to Virginia on June 24.Jerome Royal is a player. He's very good.EDITED: Hill called back and said he did verbal to Akron.
  12. Here's a link to video from the camp. This reel is on Jake Anderson, the newest player to pick up an offer:Top Performer: Jake AndersonThere are 13 more reels on the website for you members.
  13. This photo gallery is posted on OhioVarsity.com, but it's in a premium area, so I thought I'd share it with you all.Click here for the photo gallery. One of Akron's targets (with an offer) was a top performer at the camp (Vincent Hill) and the Zips extended an offer today to another player.
