For the fifth time in the last seven seasons, Akron has garnered a postseason invitation as the Zips were selected to participate in the 2016 Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). Akron will open tournament play hosting its first-ever home postseason tilt welcoming Bucknell to James A. Rhodes Arena for a 7 p.m. game on Thursday, March 17.

The University of Akron men's soccer team under the direction of fourth-year head coach Jared Embick will open its spring exhibition schedule this Friday, March 18, as the Zips host the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL (United Soccer Leagues) and Notre Dame College at FirstEnergy Stadium – Cub Cadet Field.
