The University of Akron men's and women's track and field teams will compete in a trio of meets this weekend as the Zips will participate this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 12-13, at both the Samford Open in Birmingham, Ala., and the Spire Division I Track and Field Invitational in Geneva, Ohio, while junior Clayton Murphy (New Paris, Ohio) heads to Ames, Iowa, for the Iowa State Classic on Saturday, Feb. 13.

On the heels of its Mid-American Conference bye week, Akron travels to Western Michigan on Saturday, Feb. 13, for a key league showdown versus the Broncos. Potential MAC Tournament seeding implications will be on the line in the only regular season encounter between the two schools this season. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
