OK, so I was browsing through Wikipedia, and on the University of Akron page, it says that Zippy is only one of two female college mascots.
Is this true? 
I was pretty sure Zippy was a guy up until I read that. I can't figure out where they got it from either. Read it here. -

I'll have to personally thank LeBron on behalf of Akron U, as soon as I can call in a few favors from some people I know who are friends of his from high school.

I also heard that the game against the Least in the East
is included as well. I can't say for sure where I heard it though. I certainly hope Akron doesn't go to the bowl in Toronto, because that means we don't win the MAC. -
Funny thing is... not a mention of this in the Beacon Journal. Its funny that folks in Canton are more excited about this than in Akron. Something's wrong with that.

The soccer team looks as strong as ever this year, and with Indiana's former coach heading things up this year, I see a national title coming to akron sometime in the very near future.

red_steve, Miami's glory days are over. Deal with it. Akron will dominate the MAC East again this year, and next year the top recruiting classes from '05 and '06 will get to show their stuff. Akron has improved in almost every way since last year. Don't expect a repeat of that game. I suppose you think that you will beat Northwestern this year too. Guess what! Another guy from Akron is going to run over your defense in that game too. His name is Tyrell Sutton, and he is the reason you will lose that game too. Don't come to this website just to annoy us. Go play in your cornfield of a school or remenisce about the good 'ole days when Miami used to be the top team. Those days are over. Now that I have that out of the way...

I'm not sure where I saw this, but I am almost 100% positive that the #1 MAC team plays at the GMAC bowl against the #2 C-USA team. The #2 MAC team plays at the MCB against the #8 Big-10 team. The #3 MAC team plays in the International Bowl in Toronto this year.

Great story. I think we will be just fine, if not better this year. Plus, having the top recruiting class in the MAC 2 years running should start to show by the middle of the season.

I think the date change is an excellent idea. Sort of like the pre-game show for the BCS game. It is great exposure for the teams involved.

Zippy is a girl?

I understang Zippy has a pouch, but the Ohio State Nut has a face, arms, and legs. That must mean it is an animal, not a nut; that could also mean Brutus is a girl with a guy's name. Zippy is a mascot, and mascots are almost always innacurate, or a distortion of the real life things they say they are. Anyways, I brought this topic up because I always refered to as Zippy "he".
