  1. Akron is on top of The Mac Daily's preseason power rankings. It's hard to see them moving out of that spot all season if they play as well as expected.http://themacdaily.com/index.php?p=1_80
  2. I wanted to share this because I think that it's of interest to everyone. It's a couple of quotes from each MAC coach from today's press conference. I think it's a good way to get a feel for what each team is thinking today.http://themacdaily.com/index.php?p=1_79
  3. Akron beat Wisconsin tonight to go 2-0 in the preseason. It's a nice start for things to come. http://themacdaily.com/index.php?news&nid=135
  4. Something like this?http://www.lids.com/pid/20131184
  5. Dr. Steinbrecher was at WMU yesterday and discussed his plans for the MAC. He had some good points about how last year went and I think he gets what the MAC needs to do to grow as a conference.http://themacdaily.com/index.php?p=1_77
  6. Here are some thoughts on Akron's new AD. He seems like a very good sales manager/ marketer, who will become a great AD with time.http://themacdaily.com/index.php?p=1_76
  7. I'm not sure I'd put Fran Solich that high. I think that as long as they go about 6-6, he'll be fine. I'd be much more nervous if I was Martin or Brookhart.
  8. That's a good point. I'd much rather a HS game have a bad broadcast that an Akron game against a Big Ten team.
  9. The MAC coaches say that Akron will win the MAC. Sound logic IMHO.http://themacdaily.com/index.php?news&nid=110
  10. I think that the grass is a nice touch. It reminds me a lot of Virginia's stadium.
  11. With how good the men's team is, the women have kind of been overlooked. Still, they could surprise some people this year.http://themacdaily.com/1_72_Women-s-Soccer-Preview.html
  12. Here's a quick recap for everyone that couldn't make it. Less than one month until the home opener!http://themacdaily.com/index.php?news&nid=103
  13. Here's the recap. It also has the CMU game, but it gives the basics of today's game. Win or lose, it's nice to see these ladies back on the field!http://themacdaily.com/index.php?p=1_67
  14. I wanted to share this because it's a nice spot to find links from all over the conference in one spot. http://themacdaily.com/1_66_Around-The-MAC.html
  15. It was sent along by the SID, who supposedly took it today. I'd hope he didn't lie. But, I'm all for a good conspiracy theory as well.
  16. Just a special treat. Enjoy because this stadium is awesome!http://themacdaily.com/index.php?p=1_63
  17. The Akron Beacon Journal put together a nice slide show. Pictures 1,6,7 are stadium shots.http://www.ohio.com/multimedia/photo_galle...toryID=52521307
  18. I look at these photos and all I want to know is why isn't the opener sold out yet? That looks like a perfect September Saturday!
  19. I'm going to add this link because it's more accurate. It "sounds" like Perles was joking about the name. Please be joking about the name.http://themacdaily.com/index.php?news&nid=86
  20. Yurachek would be a good choice. The key is to find someone who wants to keep improving facilities and working towards improving Akron's image. Not to beat a dead horse, but the whole MAC is suffering through an inferiority complex right now that it needs to get out of.
  21. Until MAC teams start consistently winning against the "name schoools" it doesn't really matter who Akron schedules. The MAC is going to be a one-team conference until it starts winning November games against Big Ten or Big East teams and has teams that can get out of the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Look at the MVC, they played the RPI and SOS game very well, but when it became crunch time, they failed. In just a couple of years, they've gone from being a possible 2-3 team conference to being another 1-team conference... unless they do something amazing.
  22. Here is a story on how Akron's players and coaches are hoping that InfoCision Stadium improves student support and brings more BCS teams to UA.http://themacdaily.com/index.php?p=1_57
  23. If Buffalo falls off like they should, then it's second. And, if Temple underperforms, then it's first.
  24. I wanted to share this on here because of the excitement from the Akron players over the new stadium. I always knew that the Rubber Bowl was bad, but I never realized how much it was loathed.http://themacdaily.com/index.php?news&nid=81The site will have a full story on this over the weekend.
  25. Just throwing this out there. There are 11 defensive positions in NCAA football. At Akron, 10 of those positions are filled by upperclassmen. If the Zips defense isn't amazing, then I'll be shocked.
