  1. So I guess it comes down to whether we would be able to gather 25 orders... I'd definitely buy one
  2. For those of you interested in mock drafts, SBnation is have a full coverage of the first two rounds for there mock draft. This will be live tonight at 9 PM Eastern time. Here's the link. http://www.sbnation.com/soccer/2010/12/31/...rdraft#comments
  3. True, and they also spelled Akron as Arkon at the beginning of that sentence. Think I may know why you missed that one though. Dyslexia is a difficult disease. Good catch, im suprised I missed that. But that is awful, im mean they didn't even capitalize Zips in the headline.
  4. Not sure if any of you guys saw they but I was just on NCAA.com and was looking at the Men's Soccer D1 to see the Zips, they called Scott Caldwell, Brain Caldwell! I mean WOW NCAA! nice job screwing that up. http://www.ncaa.com/sports/soccer-men/d1
  5. I was thinking the same thing. Maybe have Akron Zips 2010 National Champions on the end of each scarf I think would be very cool.
  6. I would like to see three things in the draft. It basically a given that Darlington, maybe even Perry will go #1 to Vancouver, so I would love to see a Zip go to Vancouver at #8 to have two players playing for them. Also someone going to Columbus, and last a Zip going to Seattle.
  7. Yes, I was exaggerating. I really don't know, and have never heard of this draft before. But, if only 17k show up at games, that unfortunately puts it in the same level of an Akron football game. And it brings me back to the point earlier of what kind of publicity we can possibly get by having The University of Akron's name mentioned at this draft as opposed to if these guys stayed and won more titles? I just don't see this huge publicity benefit by the University from having these guys entered in a pro soccer draft. Sorry, I can't find the positives in all of them leaving. But, I hope it all works out for them. They're great kids, great athletes, and did us proud. Well when we are recruiting it shows that the best come to Akron by, winning a national championship and having our players leave school early for the pros, even Perry Kitchen leaving as a freshman. He is getting talks about be the #2, even the #1 overall pick. So i can see players leaving helping Porter recruit even more.
  8. Back to back National championships is what he can gain, where as if he goes into the draft he will be a top 5 pick and likely not to be with a contender.
  9. I'm not really that knowledgeable about the MLS, but according to Soccer by Ives, Chivas signed some young keeper who they envision will be their future at that position. If that's true then Chivas could easily end up with another Zip. They'd then have three former Akron players. Very true, also what I didn't realize was Philly Union signed Defender Ethan White as a homegrown player so I doubt Zarek will go there. He could very well go to Chivas USA. Also for the 12 spot replacing Ethan White, I see Corey Hertzog going there and then Nano possibly going NY Red Bull
  10. I agree, i could see us running the 2009 formation with Perry ( if he stays ) and Scotty in the middle like a Ben zemanski and Blair Gavin, bc perry is more defensive, and Scotty is more possession.
  11. I agree 100% with both of this comments! But I was thinking Nanchoff would have stayed bc I didn't see him going in the 1st round. Not that he isn't good enough bc he is with his amazing left foot and unbelievable work ethic, but bc of his injuries i didn't see teams looking at him too closely. But with him signing with GA, he probably with go in the first round. And you rarely see a GA not go in the first round.
  12. Looks like we lost Zarek and Nanchoff too http://soccer.altweet.com/2010/12/mls-sign...generation.html
  13. I put together my own MLS mock draft and i have Nagbe, Valentin, and Kofi leaving as underclassmen. Originally I had Kofi staying for his senior year because he is so into his academics. But the Portland Timbers are showing a lot of interest in Kofi. Also D.C. United needs a right back badly so if the Timbers were to pass on Kofi for Omar Salgado he would go to them. And if Kofi sings with Gereation Adidas, they give you a scholarship to finish up your school. Zarek I believe will go bc if D.C. United doesn't go with Kofi they could go with Zarek, bc he plays right back, if I'm not mistaken, for the US U20 team. Then with Darlington, everyone seems to be saying he will go number 1 so I don't know why he wouldn't leave. 1. Vancouver Whitecaps – Darlington Nagbe, Jr. F, Akron 2. Portland Timbers – Kofi Sarkodie, Jr. D, Akron 3. D.C. United – Omar Salgado, F, Generation adidas 4. Chivas USA – Zac MacMath, Jr. GK, Maryland 5. Philadelphia Union – Zarek Valentin, So. D, Akron 6. New England Revolution – Will Bruin, Jr. F, Indiana 7. Houston Dynamo – A. J. Soares, Sr. D, California 8. Vancouver Whitecaps (via Toronto) – Anthony Ampaipitakwong, Sr. M, Akron 9. Chicago Fire – Michael Farfan, Sr. M, UNC 10. Sporting Kansas City - Matt Kassel, Jr. M, Maryland 11. Seattle Sounders - David Bingham, Jr. GK, California 12. Columbus Crew - Ethan White, Jr. D, Maryland 13. NY Red Bull - Casey Townsend, Jr. F, Maryland 14. Real Salt Lake - Corey Hertzog, Sr. F, Penn State 15. San Jose Earthquakes – Justin Meram, Sr. F, Michigan 16. LA Galaxy - Jalil Anibaba, Sr. D, UNC 17. FC Dallas - Brain Ownby, Jr. F, Virginia 18. Colorado Rapids - Jason Herrick, Sr. F, Maryland Here is the Portland Timbers big board. http://www.droppingtimber.com/2010/12/dt-2...-big-board.html
  14. I say the Zips dominate the whole game, but our defense like to keep teams in it in the end. With the nice warm weather I can see Mattocks getting two goals this game, and the Freshman on the other team, Soony Sadd, is going to be hard to stop. Zips win though and that's all that will matter. Zips - 3 Mich - 2
  15. If you look at the Championship website on NCAA.com, an autograph session is listed after semifinal #1. If we beat Cal and advance to the College Cup, would the Zips take part in the autograph session? Due to the fact that we're the 3 seed we will be playing in the later game. I don't know about you, but I'd rather have the team focused on the match than on signing autographs an hour before the game. The time is listed as TBA. I wonder if they'd have the teams playing in the later game sign after game #2. Either that or earlier in the day. Last year the zips played after Virginia and Wake, the. After we beat UNC they had the autograph session in the tent.
