MNF commentators said he looked really good tonight. "veteran confidence"Still, he's third string. So, that's where it's at.
The coaches want him desperately to become the second-stringer. He doesn't have to look like he could take the job from Hasselbeck, he just needs to look competent.

At first that's what I thought they were saying when they said they wanted to really get a good look at Frye in this pre-season... as in, make Charlie 2nd string so that they could use Seneca Wallace in some other positions. But now I realize that they just want to know that Frye is a quality 3rd string so that they can put Wallace into the game sometimes and not worry as much about getting their 2nd string QB hurt.

Frye is looking solid out there and so far looks to be making some good decisions. Also, the commentators have mentioned UA quite a few times. IF Frye keeps this up I think he's got a good chance to be Hasselbeck's backup. Go Seahawks, go Frye, go Zips!
What network was this on? I saw his first two games on Seahawks network, but not this one.

19 of 30 with 2 TDs and over 200 yards (no INTs) is a pretty good performance, but most importantly it seemed to please Holmgren. And Wallace threw a late INT to boot. I think it's likely that Holmgren has seen enough positive to allow Wallace to play an increased role on the team with Charlie as a capable reserve. Nice job Charlie!ESPN Link

Bad day; really bad day for Charlie haters. By now it is obvious that Mike Holmgren knows QBs.Charlie put up the numbers and "touches" all the Quinny fans long for. PASSING: Seattle, Frye 19-29-0-219, S.Wallace 2-4-1-15. San Diego, Rivers 11-21-0-143, Volek 3-9-0-33.Two touchdown passes on two well executed plays. No interceptions. No sacks. What a difference a real offensive line makes for a QB.Charlie has elevated himself to the back up position behind all pro Matt Hasselbeck. In all likelihoodCharlie will be the starter on opening day. Meanwhile "pink tutu boy" will be holding a clip board.Once again; I repeat my bleat. "Charlie Frye will earn his Super Bowl ring as the starting QB before the Browns get to a Super Bowl game."

Aren't you really setting yourself up for never being wrong, but never being right either. Neither will happen. In fact, there is a better chance of the sun running out of fuel before either happens. Charlie showed last night why he is a back up. With his ability, he can complete a lot of passes and win 35-50% of the games while the starting QB is healing from an injury. That ability is good enough for the NFL because is keeps a team in the playoff chase while the starting QB is down. Being a back up NFL player sure has a higher salary than what he would make on the outside so I say good for him. Putting up only seven points in one half of an NFL game is unacceptable. If not for a horrible tackling attempt on the part of the SD DB, that play does not go for 68 yards and Seattle may not have scored at all. When Charlie gets inside the 20, he needs to get six.

I guess that makes Rivers a 3rd stringer
