And I'm bringing some friends! What beers do you guys recommend from the OBC?If you haven't been there before I would recommend trying the sampler first. My favorite brew is the O'Hoppy Ale, but there are two or three others that are fantastic as well. They usually have one or two seasonals on tap too. All good, and the food is pretty damned good as well. GO ZIPS.SeeTeeZip Quote
johnnyzip84 Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 Yesss! I'm finally going to be able to make this week's viewing party @ the OBC. And I'm bringing some friends! What beers do you guys recommend from the OBC?The sampler is a good idea, BUT the one beer I would highly recommend that is NOT part of the sampler is the Akron Dopple Alt. It is between amber and dark in color, but it's not as heavy-bodied as this would suggest. It's has a nice, flavorful blend of hops and spices and goes down very smoothly. My wife, who typically stays away from darker beers, loves this one. It is considered one of OBC's "seasonals", so it won't be available for too much longer (I am guessing). I think they also have two other seasonals going right now, the Lock 3 Oktoberfest (have had it, not bad!), and something like Buckeye Blonde? They also have 6 they brew year-round. To read up on these, here is the link. I've had Verich's Gold (the lightest of their regular brews, but very flavorful nonetheless) and Steel Valley Stout (better than Guinness IMHO and on par with Murphy's or Beamish). Looking forward to seeing you all there Link Quote
