scottditzen
I was at the game so obviously didn't see the broadcast.I saw from highlights that Michael Reghi was on the espn 360. He usually does a tremendous job.How was the channel 5 broadcast? I'm so glad they're televising this rivalry here in ne ohio.
apalmison
Well the announcers knew the players names and the cameramen could identify our head coach. That's a step up from the ESPN Classic Broadcast of the UA/Army game. The announcers were good-knew the players, coaches, stats, and history of the programs and the MAC. Sometimes the camera work was shaky or out of focus. BTW, how was the crowd? The cheers came through on TV when UA made a big play. Go Zips! GoZips88
Rowdies were well-represented in the general admission north end zone stands (quite a few other Akron fans here as well) and you could really hear them on TV and the radio ...The Can't student section was a little weak at the start of the game but filled a little more as the game went on. This pic of their section was taken right at kick-off ...I thought the home stands would be filled a little more than they were given the fact that this was a rivalry game. Pretty sparse in my opinion at kick-off and didn't fill too much more than this ...http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh279/d.../Image00003.jpg
Zipsrifle
Yea, on TV you could actually hear the Akron fans way more than the Can't fans. Pretty pathetic attendance though. Wish I could have gone but there was just no way.

An old one at that! The five Zip fans I was with sat over on that "home" side. There were a handful of Zip fans in front of us and behind us as well. I had forgotten that Can't has their team take the sidelines OPPOSITE the press box (something Faust did early on in his tenure at the Rubber Bowl....very odd in my opinion....had heard rumors then that Gerry didn't want the players to get any "negative" feedback from the home crowd lol). Anway, I heard several Can't students saying while pointing to the endzone, "those people over their (Rowdies) are making more noise than the entire rest of the crowd". I LOVED IT! Keep it up Ak-Rowdies!! I can't wait to see you guys and gals in action again next Saturday night. Go Zips!!!
Blue & Gold
Yep! You Rowdies are part of the show now! Keep up the great work; you guys really add a lot to the environment!!!
zips4ever2008
ESPNNEWS cut in to the game towards the end of the fourth quarter. They were going back and forth between this game and other games. They focused in at the game during the overtimes, especially the second when Can't was trying to either tie or when. I jumped out of my seat when the kicker missed the field goal. I listened to the radio for a bit and Joe Dunn and Steve French mentioned that a couple thousand AK-ROWDIES made the trip. They were at the endzone where Can't's kicker missed the field goal and once they started cheering, the game was over. Dunn and French said their reaction was how they knew. Way to go ROWDIES! scottditzen
Being at the game was sooo much fun (aside from some of the on the field frustration lol). There are multiple tailgate areas and there was lots of friendly rivalry going on. There were lots of mixed groups of Akron and Can't fans hanging out which is cool. Sat with some classy Can't fans near the AK-Rowdies in the end zone. Quaint, well kept stadium and a killer scoreboard!!! This is a good rivalry and should get more publicity imho. p.s. when the Zips team ran toward the endzone to salute the fans the feel was electrifying...I mean, we haven't had much to celebrate lately and it was fantastic. I was the one who ran down to the top of the AK-Rowdies at that point with my homo-... I mean home-made UA blanket draped over my back! The stadium renovations are great, though. It looks very classy. It's almost sad that they can't put a good product on the field. Oh well, at least we can say they might have one of the better stadiums in the nation when they drop down to 1AA!!! Zipsrifle
I need to add this to the discussion. Having sat at home and watched the game, UA's commercials were horrible compared to the Can't commercials. I think Can't had about 15 different commercials focusing on their different degree programs. They put Can't in a very good light whereas the few Akron commercials mostly focused on athletics and then they had the confusing one with Proenza and the ball that flies around where you can't make sense of anything. Seriously, we may have won the game, but if I were a parent, I would be pushing my kid to attend Can't from what I saw on the commercials. To me the Can't commercials have always had the appearance of a community college. They feel like the Tri-C commercials. Akron, while they don't focus on the programs seem to have always had a more modern feel, and the sweeping veiws of campus compares to what Big East and Big 10 schools do.Of course it's probably a younger generation vs older generation thing. Like with the uniforms.
