bmaker Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 The Zips played an uninspiring yet sufficient game tonight to best the Broncos, 2-0. Ben Zemanski scored in the first half off a nice cross from the end line by Kofi Sarkodie. Nicely executed all-around. The second goal came in the second half on a pretty shot by Teal Bunbury. My position in the stands was such that I could line up the shot right into the right corner past the diving WMU keeper.Western Michigan had zero attack and 80% of the game was played in their defensive half. Which is why I feel the game was uninspiring. Akron should have walked all over these guys. One question: tonight was senior night and Andrew Tipton didn't play. Anyone know why? Quote
GoZips Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 Some what disappointed by the sparsity of AK-Rowdies at the Western Michigan game. The Rowdies that showed up gave a good account of themselves. At one point in the first half the Rowdies even tricked "AJ", the WMU goalie, into checking for a loose shoelace. They were definitely in his head.Hey, AK-Howdies, you are Zips, not Suckeyes (losers at home to Penn State in American football). The Zips played with all the fizz of four day old can of open beer.Three to go. All on the road makes it a slog to the end.I think, too, that tonight's win makes the Zips 5-0-0 in conference and that makes them the regular seasonchamps wth a game at Hartwick remaining. Quote
RootforRoo44 Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 Some what disappointed by the sparsity of AK-Rowdies at the Western Michigan game..............Hey, AK-Howdies, you are Zips, not Suckeyes (losers at home to Penn State in American football).Hey now, i take offense to that. The reason that many students/Rowdies were not there tonight was because most people were observing Halloween tonight. Whether it be (God forbid) going to Can't for it or just around Akron. That's why the crowd was small. Quote

MDZip Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 Getting back on topic, with 7 teams in the league now not only did the Zips get home field advantage for the tournament, but with the first seed locked up, they also will have one less game to play in the tournament. Just hold on for the next couple weeks and take take of business in the tournament and after playing a schedule that included Notre Dame, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio State (and not losing to any of them), it will be interesting to see what our seed ends up being. Damn well better be a single digit below nine (and I'd prefer not to be in the same bracket with Wake until the Final Four, thank you). Quote
