GoZips
Eighteenth ranked Michigan having recently lost to twenty-fourth ranked Michigan State and fifth rankedAkron, both on the road, went on the road again this evening and shocked second ranked Northwestern. This bodes well for the Zips as Northwestern is one of three teams ranked higher than the Zips that stand in the way of the Zips getting a number one seed. Also, Northwestern is ranked number one in the Great Lakes region with Akron ranked second. Wake Forest is entrenched in first place nationally. When the new polls come out next week look for the Zips to be number one in the region and probablymove up to fourth nationally with an outside possibility of climbing up to third. tpsjugglerdude
#3 St. John's only tied Depaul (6-5-3) in Double OT 0-0. That could give us the possibility to vault to #3.
GoZips
We get a little more help.#4 ranked St. John's plays to a nil-nil draw at DePaul.Zips have a real possibility of moving up to third in the Adidas/NCSAA poll (the one that counts the most). johnnyzip84
On a related note, I happen to have Massillon Cable TV and I get a channel called CBS College Sports. Well on their ticker (ESPNU USED to do this too) they include the top 20 scores in college soccer......well at least every team EXCEPT Akron! I was watching it yesterday and I noticed all the other teams, including Cal-Irvine at #20 tying somebody 1-1. So I KNOW it's not just the "BCS" teams that are included. This just seems like another example of the soccer powers that be simply not knowing how to handle this Zip juggernaut. Please win out Zips and force these people's hands! Big Zip
The sad part about the rankings in soccer is it becomes a beauty contest for other schools when it comes to the tournament and we then get shafted as usual. These year long rankings me nothing if we don't draw a top seed.
