Teams we want to win (and lose) this weekend

Another weekend without a Zips football game. May as well get used to it. While we can't cheer for the Zips, we can cheer for other teams to win or lose that would help our cause. Obviously we want all our OOC opponents to win because it makes our strength of schedule better. They would be:Cincinnati vs. #23 South Florida (on Thursday) - We should have beat them, but having them knock off a ranked team in one of our more active recruiting areas would be helpful.Wisconsin @ #21 Michigan State - I don't think the Badgers can do it, but it would go a long way towards making us look better after they ran all over us. Army vs. Air Force - We beat Army easily, but somehow they have become a decent team the past few weeks. Them beating a good MWC team at home helps us a lot.Syracuse vs. Louisville - Syracuse is a lost cause. Might as well root for Louisville to knock a Big East team out of bowl contention. There's also no harm hoping more things fall into place within the MAC. A couple of teams will be essentially eliminated from title contention in the East. Here's how I hope things play out with the MAC teams:CMU @ Indiana - Root for CMU. Any time a MAC team beats a Big 10 team it's a good thing. Plus CMU could knock Indiana out of bowl contention for certain. Can't State @ BGSU - We beat Can't but lost to BG. I can't bring myself to root for Can't, but I will be hoping BG loses. The loser will become 1-4 in the MAC which retty much knocks them out of the race.EMU @ WMU - Root for EMU. West opponent records figure into the tiebreaker scenarios.Temple @ Navy - Root for Temple, although I don't think they can win. The MAC is directly competing against Navy for the Eagle Bank Bowl spot. What do you guys think?

B) i think the only two teams that really matter to the ZIPS(assuming they beat toledo, which will be a monumental feat in and of itself) are fuffalo and temple...bgsu is lurking because they beat us already...but unless we beat fuffalo and temple and/or get some help it could come down to head to head...fuffalo has a very easy schedule...win the east or watch tv in december...

You have that the wrong way around. Navy is nearly an auto-bid at 5-3 right now. We are competing directly with the ACC for the Eagle Bank Bowl. The 9th ACC team is slotted for that game, but the ACC has never had 9 eligible teams.Root against Clemson, Duke, Miami (fl), and Wake Forest. They make up the bottom of the ACC right now(NCST being so far out of it they don't count). Looks like C-USA will fall short of their 6 tie-ins so we could pick up a game from them too. The MAC potentially could send 6 teams this year. Akron, Buffalo, and NIU can still make it, and Central, Western and Ball st are almost a lock.

Shouldnt we want Indiana to win. Who cares about the MAC beating a Big 10 school unless WE are the MAC school winning.Indiana comes to town to open up the Info next season, it would be nice to open it up with a win over a BOWL team.
Although... if Indiana were to lose to a MAC team, it would make that home opener next year that much better because we'd know we have that much more of a chance against not only a BCS team, but a Big10 team. Not that I am the type to wish for people to fail, but doing so would even the odds for us next year.

IMO I think we should root against Indiana. I think we should always root for as many MAC bowl teams as possible, and the best way to have that occur is for as many BCS teams as possible to remain bowl ineligible. Plus, I happen to think the MAC is fairly well positioned to compete well in bowl games this year, far better than in recent years. I'll be disappointed if the conference doesn't win at least TWO bowl games.
