JD: Fire him?

I want to give JD one last chance. He has two weeks to change the offense to suit his new lineup. He has two weeks to draw up something other than a draw play up the middle for negative three yards. He has two weeks to get the offensive line on the same page as the QB, and he has two weeks to choose a featured RB that can get into the flow of the game.If the team comes out flat against Ohio, then I will look at whether it was because nothing changed as far as playcalling and personnel or whether it was because the players have given up. Then it will be appropriate to make a choice on whether JD (along with most of his assistants) needs to go at the end of the year.

Anyone who thinks a college team firing a coach mid season is beneficial is complete fool.First there is a huge recruitment impact. With loss of recruits landed (this happens with any coaching change). Then there is lack of recruitment signing because of uncertainty of who the coach is going to be.JD is here until the end of the year (like it or not) beyond that it's up to the wins. (Though I still think he is going to have to be in the MAC Championship to save his job this year)*edit: remember it is the last year of his contract

Those things will happen anyway, no matter when a coach is fired. But if you do it earlier, it gives a chance for a new coach to come in as soon as possible and clean up the mess instead of being left scrambling with only a few months to recruit a full class.

Let me be the first: :horse: This is foolishness to think that opening the job up right now is going to change recruiting. Who are you going to hire in October? All the worthwhile candidates are otherwise engaged in winning games somewhere else. They're not going to be interviewing for anything before the end of the season anyhow.Go Zips!!

Well then call me a fool g-mann. I'm ready for JD to be gone. Period. You have to be kidding about recruitment, as if there isn't already a ton of uncertainty surrounding this program as it spirals into the crapper. You think any potential signee, or hell, any kid in the program, can't see the writing on the wall? Some will leave when JD leaves, some will come when he leaves. Besides, are you happy with the recruits and the program we're seeing right now, with a couple possible exceptions? STZ

Recruits do see the writing on the wall. Mainly:1) New Stadium2) Newish indoor practice facility3) Head Coach that is excited to have you come visit. JD is really outgoing and pulls recruits from everywhereFor all the teams we want to be like as far as record and fan support go(OSU, Mich, Texas, hell CM) there are many more like us (spotty records and small fan-bases. The recruiting will turn around as a result of the investments made and stable coaching at the top.Something is broke this year. If it is not fixed and this team continues to spiral, he deserves to get canned. But optimists were the only ones saying Akron would be better than 1-3 at this point. Let him have the rest of the season to get these kids ready for the rest of their careers here and to install a little fight in their play on the field.

I've seen half the stuff you have written, and I have no problem calling you a fool. "I won't give this program my money if they keep putting this on the field."That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. That is a front runner mentality if I've ever seen it. Only winners deserve our attention and money. Hell if that is the way things should have been we should still be FCS, with major roads bi-secting our campus and stadium that looks like Greek ruins with not even a 1/100th of the prestige of them. Because that is what the school was, a giant loser. Am I happy with the recruits? Outside of Jacq yes. Stewart did something wrong but the motive was right. The rest of the players are quality players, to bash any of them is foolish. A coaching change now with no indicators of direction, no ability to interview, and basically saying "Screw this season that is only 1/3 over" is sheer stupidity. I think JD's time has come, he made some bold choices with Harris and Montgontmery and it isn't working out on offense (I thought we would resemble Miami ala Roethlisberger years and we get the same ole thing). It will be similar to Lee Owens, winning season the final year, but your contract was up and your body of work is not an indicator of you moving the program in the right direction. And what do you think it will do for the team? Improve it? Hardly, they don't have enough time to change schemes. It will just create more chaos in the program. Play out the year with JD, let those that want to leave, and hire a new coach that can talk the talent into staying.

I've seen half the stuff you have written, and I have no problem calling you a fool. Likewise, fool."I won't give this program my money if they keep putting this on the field."Don't you think that if you quote someone you should actually quote something they said? I never said that I will stop supporting the Zips. I have said over and over that NE Ohio locals won't support the Zips if they keep on carting a crappy product for us to watch. Again, you are a fool. That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Call me a frontrunner. I call you a sucker. Keep on accepting crappy football g-mann. Go for it sucker. Fool.Am I happy with the recruits? Outside of Jacq yes. Stewart did something wrong but the motive was right. The rest of the players are quality players, to bash any of them is foolish. Then you're happy with the product on the field. Is it the coaching, or is it the recruits? I agree that it's the coaching, and the only thing I've said about the kids in the program is that some of them will leave when JD leaves, for a number of reasons. Fine, that's how life works, you fool.A coaching change now with no indicators of direction, no ability to interview, and basically saying "Screw this season that is only 1/3 over" is sheer stupidity. It will be similar to Lee Owens, winning season the final year, but your contract was up and your body of work is not an indicator of you moving the program in the right direction. You actually think we'll wind up with a winning season? G-Mann, or should I call you MRS. BROOKHART, put down the crack pipe. This team may very well win no more games this year. Fool. And what do you think it will do for the team? Improve it? Hardly, they don't have enough time to change schemes. It will just create more chaos in the program. Play out the year with JD, let those that want to leave, and hire a new coach that can talk the talent into staying.Sure thing G-mann. Thanks for characterizing my arguments so poorly and missing many of my points. I see you're another victim of the old Rubber Bowl taint, and you're a fool.
