ZachTheZip Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Ever since our recruiting class was announced with 24 players, I was wondering where all the extra scholarships were coming from.I have my answer now, thanks to Rasor's Blog. This is probably also the reason a 4-3 defense isn't being considered. There are five players that have transferred to other schools.Gary Pride and Jose Cruz, arguably two guys that would have an impact on the offense this year are gone. Also gone are three defensive linemen: Freshmen Shane Shead and Blake Smith, along with Senior Mitchell Magliore, presumably due to concerns about getting playing time.I wish them all the best of luck where ever they choose to go, but I consider this a good sign. It means we're greatly increasing the talent level on the defensive line. Getting that Will Clarke guy would be the capstone on a major overhaul of the talent level. Quote
Blue & Gold Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Aww, I'm disappointed Shane Shead is transferring. I was looking forward to watching him get some reps as he was an occasional visitor and contributor to ZipsNation. Shane, if the rumor of your transfer is true, then we all wish you the best of luck! We sincerely hope you wind up at a school where you get a good education, enjoy yourself and get a lot of PT! Good luck, Shane! Quote
Buckzip Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 I am surprised by Shead. I thought he would get some playing time and be in the rotation starting next season. Quote
ctmjbowes@sbcglobal.net Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 Damn! I was really looking forward to some use of the term "GuaranSHEAD" this Fall. As in "We are going to kick some serious ass, guaranSHEAD."Good luck you guys. I also hope that these sorts of transfers are the result of notable talent increases at those positions. GO ZIPS!STZ Quote
