The Bulls then forced a turnover on Akron's inbounds play with 59 seconds left. But moments later, UB's Max Boudreau was called for a moving screen, giving the ball back to Akron with 35.7 seconds to play. Through it all, the Zips -- the most veteran team in the MAC -- never got rattled. "We thought we had a nice isolation off a designed play, but I better leave that one alone," Buffalo coach Reggie Witherspoon said. The Zips, the bulk of whom have played in numerous big games the past two seasons, including two MAC Tournament finals and in the NIT, ran the clock down until UB fouled guard Anthony Hitchens (10 points). His two free throws effectively sealed the game.
Is this author full of crap or is the rest of the conference less experienced than Akron is with 7 freshmen? :rolltide:
EXACTLY! I thought the same thing. The lack of knowledge by local media is appalling. He thinks cuz the Zips have been in post-season games the last several years, that the majority of our players have been too? Um, hey Elton, there is something called graduation in college. Players move on and new ones come in to the program. For once I wish media people do some basic freshman-level journalism class fact checking before they post a story.Jeese.

I swear Elton Alexander must be doing this on purpose. That's the fiftieth time the guy has referred to our diaper dandies as "veterans". There's no way that a guy who's job it is to cover the zips could have such a blatant misconception!

Wow...the most veteran team in the MAC? Check if this guy graduated from Can't!Akron: 2..well really 1 senior 8 freshmanBall State: 3 seniors 5 freshmanBowling Green: 3 seniors 3 freshmanBuffalo: 4 seniors 3 freshmanCentral Michigan: 3 seniors 5 freshmanEastern Michigan: 4 seniors 5 freshmanCan't State: 4 seniors 5 freshmanMiami (OH): 6 seniors 5 freshmanNorthern Illinois: 1 senior 7 freshmanOhio: 3 seniors 4 freshmanToledo: 4 seniors 9 freshmanWestern Michigan: 4 seniors 8 freshmanWhile I realize the way I did this is not decisive in judging a team's experience, it is nonetheless a good indication of the teams as a whole. While I was surprised at the general youth of the league (note- NIU and Toledo) there is little doubt that we are not the most experienced team in the conference (note- Miami and even Buffalo). If the writer was commenting that we had more experience in close or even tournament games I could partially understand, however I still would have my doubts (note- Can't).Am I wrong?

It appears that they are using the fact that most of our guys have played in a MAC Championship game (in some cases, two), and NIT games to make the assumption that we're "veteran". I haven't looked at other MAC rosters, but I'd be surprised if anyone in our league, in terms of average age, is younger than we are.

Yeah, but MOST of our guys havent played in NIT or Championship games...it is just a hugely generalized statement which at the least is inaccurate and at the most is bad journalism.

Well went to the game last night and it was awesome. The Rowdies thoroughly pissed EVERYONE off by being there and being loud to the point that when we went back to our bus, Buffalo students had already pissed on it. Yes you read that correctly. We also had a nice campus patrol member show us his badge and flick us off at the same time. A couple of Buffalo thugs felt the need to sit next to our section and say how they were gonna "F us up". Then got pissed when we started chanting "let us wear our flat brimmed hat!" and "let us stand 5 ft tall!" It made it even better then there 2 police officers (mounties) had to come down and stand btw us (the Rowdies did nothing antagonistic because we have class.) Then a few of their football players felt the need to stand next to us and talk about their MAC championship but they thought our cheers and comments back were funny and they turned out to be pretty fun. 3/4 of their band decided to flick us off at once. They have great fans there let me tell you.Anyways....to the game. Traveling calls were ridiculous. Bardo was dribbling and his feet were planted, they called him. Buffalo traveled and carried no call. But thats life in the MAC I guess. It was a really great atmosphere with the 2 student sections but the rest of the stadium cleared out with 13.7 seconds left-no faith in their team. 3 in a row in Buffalo

It really all comes to how one interprets "the past two seasons" and if EA was only counting those who actually played against Buffalo."The past two seasons" can be interpreted as the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 seasons, as this year's regular season is nearly complete, and EA did not specify the past two completed seasons.By that definition, and looking only at the regular 10-player rotation, we come up with this:* 1 has played the past 4 seasons -- Linhart* 2 have played the past 3 seasons -- C. McKnight and Conyers.* 4 have played the past 2 seasons -- Roberts, Bardo, McNees and B. McKnight* 3 are freshmen who have only played this season -- Hitchens, Cvetinovich and McClanahanSo the bulk (7) of the Zips regular 10-player rotation have in fact played in numerous big games over the course of the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 seasons.
